Other than benefitting from a thrown shoe in The Swamp, not a lot has gone right for the Tigers since winning that 2019 national championship. Last season was bad, the offseason was worse, and then quarterback Myles Brennan broke his arm and gave the starting position to Max Johnson (perhaps the best man for the job regardless). Ed Orgeron hit the reset button on his coordinators, trying to rekindle some Joe Brady magic on offense and to forget entirely about the Bo Pelini fiasco on defense. The bottom line remains forever true at LSU: There is talent. Expect a solid bounce-back season.

I think the team has much to prove this year, so I honestly dont mind being ranked 21. I think that's probably where we belong until we prove otherwise.

Fair ranking with last season and tons of unknowns. Like the upside potential with the team, and strong mature lines should carry us

With the amount of unknowns, I wouldn't be surprised if some "experts" have us unranked.

Talent is there.

We'll see.

Perfectly acceptable ranking IMO.

Lots of unknowns and coming off a terrible season.

We have a lot to prove.

same line as last year. Not sure why being a year older makes them any better than the average group they were at best last year. Our hope is that a new offense and new line coach can run plays that actually allow for success. Last year was awful.

Doesn't matter. Just win baby. We have the schedule to prove where we should be ranked. Programs with shitty schedules have to worry about things like this

Why was the off-season worse? A bunch of guys returned, and we had a strong recruiting class. Is this about football, or off-field accusations?

Oh yeah, it's Forde. Sorry I asked.

Forde may be reading the Rant and coming to understand, as do many posters here, that LSU is uniquely and negatively impacted by COVID and BLM politics.

None of the preseason rankings matter. If we take care of our business, say 11-1 that should be good enough for a playoff spot or major bowl.

Absolutely. 6 new assistants is a big thing for Orgeron. I'm not sure why people really care about preseason rankings. They're completely meaningless.

Well to me that’s about right, after last year. Lots to prove for this team and losing Myles will hurt.
