LSU has 88 fouls through 4 SEC games

An average of 22 fouls per game. 11 per half.
LSU’s first 4 opponents (AU (20) UK (15), UT (18) and UF (10)) have a combined 63 fouls in their games vs LSU.
That’s a 25 foul difference between LSU and their first 4 SEC opponents…or by average, LSU is averaging 6.25 more fouls than their opponents in each game.
Their largest foul differential was tonight vs Florida at +11 (21 to 10)
Their smallest foul differential was vs Kentucky at +5 (20 to 15).
So if you’re following all that. We average 11 fouls per half, plus we have a 6.25 average foul differential over our opponents which would bring our opponents’ average fouls per half to less than 8 fouls per half if spread evenly across 2 halves.
PLUS…we outscored Florida in the paint something like 42-28…which means we took the ball to the basket at least 21 times and only drew 8 fouls (not counting the last 2 fouls in the last minute.)
Anybody have an explanation for this?

There will be people come in here and say "We play tough defense" blah blah blah. It's because they hate Wade

A small portion of it is that we play a very aggressive style of defense and that will ultimately result in more whistles against us.
A large portion of it is that it's some bullshite like tonight. I could see a UK like disparity in most games with our D's aggression, but tonight was the most ridiculous I've ever seen.

We were always going to foul more than most teams. But not this much more

This crew tonight needs to be suspended. Seriously.
Atrocious.
Atrocious.

Easy explanation — SEC refs don’t want Will Wade to succeed. Now how high up this mandate goes is an interesting question.

Probably a lot worse than what you posted if you take out intentional fouls by our opponents, too.

It doesn’t even really need to go that deep. Refs should be judged on how well they officiate. Someone with the SEC should at least review the film from the last 2 games and try and say the refs did a good job.

NCAA refs have been given their marching orders.
I hope they all have to face hostile crowds that are bearing piss balloons in BR

Told you Florida wouldn’t score on us.
I won’t pat myself on the back too much, I badly misread the Tennessee game

Need to remove the intentional fouls at the end of the game. They shouldn’t factor-in.

Where do we go to document who the refs are? Is it in the box score or something? We need to follow these guys.

Officials: Terry Wymer, Patrick Evans, Doug Sirmons

Playing wall to wall defense will net more fouls
There is that

I’d agree except we can’t even draw fouls on offense.

There were 3 fouls in the last minute.
In the first half they weren’t called for a foul until 8:55, and were called for two more before 8:00. Those were the only three of the half.
They picked up their third foul of the second half at 3:45, and one of their first two was the technical after their made 3. So they had one contact foul in the first 16 minutes of the half, and that was the only one for 24 minutes going back to the last foul of the first half.

One of these was clearly not like the others, both by reading this stat and by watching the games.
