2 of them should have resulted in touchdowns if not for self inflicted wounds. One of them was a certainly a bad one that gained no yardage and the last one was a clock drainer to go into the half. So of the 3 real drives, we could have gotten two touchdowns.

In the 2nd half we had 4 drives and 3 of them resulted in touchdowns. So of 7 possessions not including the one draining the clock before half time, 6 of them very well could have been touchdowns drives.

The offense didn't fire on all cylinders but there's some reason for Optimism. Let's give them a tuneup against Southern and see what it looks like against State next weekend.

House not being able to get his D off the field really killed us. FSU grinding the clock made it hard to watch.

That bad snap was a momentum killer, the game could have been totally different.

Defense letting them chip away and convert 3rd downs kept our offense off the field. Our offense is dangerous because at any time Daniels can take off for 25. You have to account for that so that takes a man out of coverage. Just have to be able to block the pressure packages teams will send.

And FSU should have had a FG with 1:20 left and the game would have been over. You can't play "should have" with one team and not the other.

I’ve been repeating this exact thing since the night of the game to everyone claiming the qb sucks and the offense sucked. Reading this board you would think LSU didn’t gain a yard til the 4th quarter when FSU allowed them to score the points.

Offense is going to have to score a hell of a lot. Don't think we have the horses.

Hopefully we see a lot of guys play this Saturday to be ready for MSU. We were not ready for FSU.

This is the biggest overall issue, even more than the special teams flubs.

You can't experiment and play around on offense, when you know if you punt, you won't get the ball back for another 20-30 minutes.

How is this relevant to the OP giving reasons to be optimistic about LSU’s offense?

Daniels finished the game with 8 straight completions and was 14/18 in the 4th Quarter. Definitely reason for optimism.

The third drive we had a 3rd and 5 inside the 10 before a false start. Wire got the call but if you rewatch it, like 4 players jumped a half second early. Looks to me like the center snapped it late.

Honestly the biggest difference in the game was FSU going 11/17 on 3rd down

Just like we shouldn't have muffed the punt for them to even have that opportunity...

Don't try use stupidity like this to shite on someone acknowledging the positives from the game.

Our D is average at best. Without Maason, it may not be average. Not we are used to.

The OP is not saying LSU should have won the game. He's saying the offense moved the ball relatively well for the most part. They just didn't convert that success into points as much as you'd like because of self inflicted wounds. It took LSU only 4 plays to get inside the FSU 10 on the opening drive before a bad snap caused a 14 yard loss. Two drives later they were back inside the 10 until a false start pushed them out...subsequently ending in a blocked FG.

In the second half LSU scored TDs on 3 of 4 possessions. That is frustrating considering LSU literally gave away two possessions by dropping punts.

It doesn't mean LSU should have won the game. But it does provide a basis to think the offense could be solid if they can clean up the turnovers, poor snaps, and ill-timed penalties. All things that are fixable.

We are actually used to much worse than what we saw on Sunday. It’s as if some of tRant simply forgot about 2020 and 2021

Shouldn’t it be concerning that we only had 7 real drives?

i know everyone loves scoring points and running dat joe brady offense like 2019, but man, i love when LSU has smothering defenses....and to sit there and watch FSU convert 3rd down after 3rd down, most in the 8-12 yard range, man thats deflating.

Out of how many in total? FSU did an insane job with clock management. I noted that as soon as the game started. I mean 7+ Min for their first possession... I felt like I was watching old school Wisconsin ground pound (& Les Miles) by how long it took...

I can't wait to see what improvements we make from week one to week two.

Hopefully with the jitters out and a game under our our belt we'll come out and really show our stuff.
