I am watching The Late Kick with Josh Pate live on YouTube right now. Pate has plenty of sources around college football and says that Coach O and LSU went all in on Odom as their first choice. Interesting to hear this from a source I trust and to think about what could have been.

Fingers crossed that Pelini and staff can get this defense figured out.

O still had plenty more options. Pelini should’ve been one of the last guys left to choose from. In fact I’d would expect that type of hire from Miles.

So let me get this straight.
- Barry Odom is fired by Mizzou on November 30 (last day of 2019 regular season).
- Odom accepts the DC position at Arkansas on December 13, two weeks before LSU plays OU in the CFP semifinals.
- Matt Rhule leaves Baylor to take the job with Carolina on January 7, a week before LSU plays Clemson in the CFP championship.
- Dave Aranda is named as Baylor’s new coach on January 16.

So you’re saying either:
1. LSU knew that Matt Rhule was going to get the Carolina job a month before it was made public, and knew that Aranda was going to replace Rhule at Baylor two months before it was made public, or
2. Orgeron was going to fire Aranda to hire Barry Odom?

Fake news trying to make Arky hires look even better.

“Let’s claim LSU wanted _______”, how smart we are!

Odom is making $1.2 million at Arky

Pelini is making $2.3 million

So not saying its completely unheard of that Odom "turned O down", but needless to say I'm pretty skeptical.

Aranda was already being courted way before Baylor came. He agreed to take the UNLV job

Its still not outside the realm of possibility that O went after Odom regardless of him already being at Arkansas.

Who knows if this is true but money isn't everything to some people, maybe Odom didnt want the pressure that comes with being at a place like LSU

I don't believe this reporting, but it was expected that Aranda was going to leave and if you remember was close to taking the UNLV job in December. LSU probably was formulating lists of candidates around that time.

It’s hard for me to not believe Pelini was the top guy from the start, especially because of the Pete Carroll connection.

Lol horse shite.

Barry gets 1.2 at Arkansas

So he turned down an additional million to go to a school that hadn’t won a conference game in 2 years instead of the national champion who’s DC just landed a P5 HC job?
