YA Tittle - Iconic Ice Bowl photo - nuff said BUT for a little more “In Tittle's day of iron man football, he played on both offense and defense. While on defense during a 20–18 loss to SEC champion Ole Miss in his senior season, Tittle's belt buckle was torn off as he intercepted a pass from Charlie Conerly and broke a tackle. He ran down the sideline with one arm cradling the ball and the other holding up his pants. At the Ole Miss 20-yard line, as he attempted to stiff-arm a defender,(#87 Jack Odom), Tittle's pants fell and he tripped and fell onto his face. The fall kept him from scoring the game-winning touchdown.”

Jimmy Taylor - "You got to enjoy punishment because you are going to deliver so much of it, and you are going to get so much of it…If you are prepared you don’t really feel the punishment during the game.”
He took a fearful pounding both from the hard-hitting Giants and the frozen ground. He suffered an elbow gash that took seven stitches to close at halftime and a badly cut tongue. At the end, he could scarcely see and he couldn't talk.

Taylor was often compared with Jim Brown, the Cleveland fullback, who played at the same time. There were many different viewpoints but Lombard's summation was most succinct. "Jim Brown will give you that leg and then take it away from you. Jim Taylor will give it to you and then ram it through your chest!"

Eric Hill - he was a bad bad man.

Comes from a podunk D2 school with ice in his veins to kick his way to being a top 3 GROZA finalist.

The correct answer is Eric Andolsek. Dude didn't take shite from Ohio State when they disrespected the Tiger in Death Valley

Agree with Andolsek and TM7, but great Tiger play didn’t just start a few years ago. Hard to beat a first team line with Dennis Gaubetz and Roy “moonie” Winston lined up ahead of a backfield with Jerry Stovall, and Earl Gros.

And if I'm not mistaken....Cantrelle is one of the most feared SOB's of all time. Before my time, but if I have my story straight.....this guy was a straight brawler. Football, bars, anywhere. The ultimate Tiger that you want on your side and never staring you down.

Edited to add Faulk. Just forgot to add. Stud to come back, then win superbowls!!!

Name I haven't seen yet, but brought the wood nearly every time he carried the ball; Spencer Ware.

Tough as nails. I still remember him running for a long TD in a preseason NFL game his rookie year.

Any list that has Chase should include Jefferson. Chase also quit the team a few weeks before his junior year. Not sure that was the biggest “DAWG” move.
