Well yeah because Russell Shepard was a DT.

Only at the HS level. I would say the same with Burrow.

He's not really a dual threat quarterback.

Yes, he really is.

from looking at him run during games he looks like a 4.75 guy or so. That's plenty fast enough for a QB

In the right offense, Shepard could have been an excellent DT in college.

He chose LSU, and he offered more value to LSU at WR. WR also offered more value to him when he would go pro.

Smart move by LSU, and smart move by him to go WR. But it's foolish to suggest that he couldn't have done the same thing at the right college that he did in high school.

i see many posts on here that say Joe is not a dual threat Qb, but we are calling multiple running plays per game intentionally to utilize his running ability...that's exactly what a dual threat QB is.

You don't have to have 100 yards rushing to be a dual threat QB. He's not Michael Vick or Vince Young, but he is a DT QB.

Flynn was the last guy we had who could effectively do both.
What about Ryan Perriloux or Jordan Jefferson? LOL

Perrilloux and Jefferson were both effective dual threats. Perrilloux was a huge loss for the program.

really I think it is just how different people define a 'dual threat' QB differently. He is a dual threat in that he is a threat to run and can run more than adequately. But he is not such a dual threat, like a Michael Vick or Desean Watson, that you have to scheme your defense around his running ability, but you had better take it into account.

Some people seem to define a dual threat QB as a QB who is athletic enough that he could have played as a RB, WR, or DB if he weren't playing QB.

Others don't set such a high standard for a QB to be labeled a 'dual threat'

I think we are "splitting hairs", I just think Burrow is a very good QB, and does what is asked of him.

I've mentioned something similar in threads before about the most valuable trait of a qb is his mind(ability to read defenses pre/post snap and go through progressions quickly). Second trait is accuracy, after that comes the athleticism( arm strength, running ability,etc.).
