The Jacoby Matthews decommitment sucks. All eyes point to A&M throwing down some serious money for his commitment.

But there’s wayyyy too many people on this board crying about NIL.. like we’re at some sort of disadvantage!

“I knew this would happen” “all the rich schools are going to have an NFL farm team now”

I think some of you don’t realize this is the wild Wild West. LSU has the money. It’s time to stop crying about pay for play and just embrace opening up your checkbooks to get these big time blue chip recruits

Bama and A&M didnt bitch about the new rule. They used it in their favor. It’s time for LSU to pony up and keep Louisiana kids in state. We’re fricking LSU. The money is there. We should never, ever be outbid for a 5 star safety from Hammond

Good thing we’ve got those Canes 3 Finger combos to reel in those recruits! Nobody can complete with that.

It raises a good question:
Are we ready to succeed in this new NIL recruiting environment?
The thing that Orgeron does best is recruit. Is he going to be as competitive in this new environment?
I hope Woodward is on this in a big way, b/c my guess is that Ed is too Old School to know how to handle this.

It's always tough to embrace change.

Tigers need a little time.

There’s almost zero info on NIL happenings. I don’t understand what everyone is drawing from

Honestly though Orgeron’s comment’s lately seems like we are kinda behind on the NIL. Almost like he’s begging us to come up with something to help pay our guys.

We are at a disadvantage

Texas and A&M have a lot more money to spend than LSU. That's a fact.

Bama is tossing out $1 mm NIL for their star I haven't hear LSU do the same for ours?

Baton Rouge and Nola are small marketing potatoes compared to every big city in Texas and Florida and Georgia.

Bama has a national following call them sidewalk fans or what have you.

LSU does have nfl success going for them but they will have to adapt to NIL in some form of fashion.

There is money surrounding LSU athletics, that isn’t something I’m worried about.

There is going to be silence regarding recruiting & NIL because that isn’t supposed to be happening.

The ones with the advantage now are the ones out ahead of it, with creative pitches & protocols already in place. Not so much who has the most money,

You know the school itself can just pay a player. A business would pay a player for use of their name, image, likeness for advertising.
If you think the state having large cities is going to effect recruiting then the pac 12 is going to be the new leader. Goodbye bama, Clemson, Oklahoma, Michigan. Stanford, USC, Syracuse, San Diego St., Texas, Arizona, Boston college, Maryland, Washington st are the new big dogs. The best players, with big personalities will be the ones who make money regardless of school as long as their team gets air time.

We are, and you know that. But keep playing dumb.

We have no businesses headquartered here and affiliated with LSU that need or are willing to take a large bath on “marketing” costs. Even the walk-on’s owner didn’t seem too interested in throwing out a bunch of money for local kids.

Off he bat.

Texas schools, Georgia, Bama, OSU, USC, Michigan will all benefit more than LSU.

Why is that ?

You do realize schools have been paying for recruits for years, right? And LSU is able to land kid after kid.

If they are behind right now, it’s not because of money. They will calibrate.

I’m still not sure some of you understand the scope of NIL. The money that will be poured out is going to be chump change in the grand scheme of things.

There’s money for buyouts and suites, not to pay high 5 and 6 figure endorsement deals to multiple players.

Think about the wealthiest LSU donors. Most are involved in businesses that have little to no use for a college kid shouting them out on social media.

Understand their motivation to pay for buyouts, and you’ll understand their motivation to find a way to funnel players money.

It’s a more direct motivation with a buyout. “I pay X dollars and the coach is gone.”

Not, “I commit to paying a player 4 years out of my company budget (for nothing of value) who may never take a meaningful snap at LSU.”
