Not saying that this represents ALL of their fans...but some of those posts are pretty bad. Props to that poster. Seems like a real football fan that retains his perspective.

If I have my wife then I'm turning the wheel and I'm getting the frick outta there. I don't care if I'm in the grass. If a cop stops me I'm showing him the rock(s) and explaining I was getting away from them. frick I'll even pay a ticket.

That would have been impossible. There was no "flow" to the lots, just cars everywhere.

I wasn't there so I couldn't say exactly what I would have done. I just know that I would have attempted to drive in the grass/edge/whatever to get away.

so if you are even going to MENTION something about how you were spit on at a Maryland game or whatever, just do me a favor and don't hit the post button.

this part is fricking gold, mainly because i can share an experience JUST LIKE THIS at maryland.
except in stead of a grown man they spit on, it was an 8 yr old girl dressed in a cheer leading outfit.

maryland, land of asshats. frick maryland.

between that board and the excuse making on this one, im done with wvu fans in general. i hope they are not the 14th addition to the SEC.

To allow the interactions between message board posters to paint the image of a fan base for you is unwise, better to go by the experiences of your Tiger brethren.

As for BGN? It's got it's share of nuts, that said when the story first popped up details were shaky. Eer fans aren't exactly new to having fictitious stories about us circulate, a few fans myself included (I'll admit I was wrong in my first assumption) were immediately suspect of the validity only because we've done the whole song and dance before. I think the majority of WVU fans upon realizing the truth are disheartened, and those who are still denying it are only doing it because they were hoping so much that our fan perception had turn a corner. The denials aren't done out of malice, more out of frustration, likely a "I don't want to believe it's true" type thing. Give it a week, BGN will get pretty self loathing soon enough.

Sucks, this really has dampened a great weekend, as has all the concerns over fans who I nor other Eer's can't control. I'm extremely tired of just wanting to be able to watch a football game and either having to apologize for the moronic behavior of the guy wearing the same colors as me, or trying to convince others that we're all not so bad.

What happened to this guy is awful, but guilting other WVU fans isn't going to help. The ones that will feel shitty are going to be people like myself who are never the problem to begin with. There are some idiots who take to Mountaineer field as if it's their birth right to make any visitors feel like shite. I always looked at it like this, with a war on two fronts, an awful economy, job market in the crapper, a country divided, do we really need any more hate? When I got to football games it's to forget about all the other real shite like that in life, and I know I'm not alone.

I offer you no excuses for this behavior, I just don't fathom any logic behind it. Having gone to WVU and earned my degree from there the last thing I would do in the name of my school is hurt someone. It's a sad state of affairs we live in.

No, he is saying you stay in your car and say nothing. You can get a dent and paint job fixed.

I wasn't in the location of the incident, but I can certainly vouch for the cluster that was the adjacent parking lots and the lack of order to the post-game flow.

Correct. Lock the doors. There is ONLY downside to getting out and escalating the damned thing.

Oh yes, exactly. That's EXACTLY what I'm saying.

Well, I will admit that the information that I had earlier was obviously incorrect. My apologies to the people that were involved. I also apologize to all members of this forum. I was told that the incident did not happen and that was very bad information. This is not acceptable behavior by the people involved and they should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. Again, I offer my apology. Hope the people that did this to innocent people are caught. Anyone that witnessed this needs to come forward.

This.

I was not in that lot either, so I cannot say for sure what could or could not have been done, but traffic, overall, was absolutely horrible.

@NC Tigah

Thanks for providing some of the positive aspects. There have been some ignorant comments but 99% of Mountaineer Nation is completely embarrassed by this and feels for the family.
Yep.

Hopefully when they catch these thugs they'll be shown to have had nothing to do with WVU at all.

And it wasn't just that traffic was bad, there was just no organization to the exiting. It was just a free for all, so it is very plausible that this guy's car was surrounded on all sides by a vehicle.

Thank you for the edit and agree with the last couple of WV posters. This isn't about football. This is criminal assault and all true football fans, no matter how rabidly that they support their team, should condemn it.

Exactly. They did have some cops directing traffic at some intersections (although they seemed to hurt more than help in most cases), but many (most) strategic exit and flow points had no help whatsoever.

I hope that this turns out to be the case. Still doesn't excuse SOME of their fans' response to it.
