It makes perfect sense when you think LOCK = 9 seed. Prior to AU loss, after AU loss.

Lunardi is one of the only ones that had LSU as "Last 4 IN". Composite bracketology had LSU as 10 or 11. The true rantards had LSU in the NIT. LSU's seeding simply means LSU was a LOCK. UGA being a 10 even furthers the point.

Yea, I didn't think we'd get a 9 seed. I figured we would be a 10 or 11, but I also thought that if a few games went the wrong way we may get left out. It looks like I was wrong about that.

Let's make a run in this thing. I haven't watched nova play at all this year, but I feel good about the NC state game.

Look at Patterson. He's on his phone looking at something and he never flinches, just like when Hornsby hit his game winner. Now we know. His nickname is now "ICEWATER".
More like "The Man With No Pulse".

I've said it before and I'll say it again. No way we were getting screwed out of a spot with Joe Alleva on the committee. That said, I do agree that I was sure we'd be a 10 seed not a 9.

The committee also puts little to no stock in how you do in the conference tourney

They reward wins WAYYYYYYY more than they punish losses, and that's just magnified tenfold in conference tourneys.

It was often said that the committee cares more about who you can beat than who can beat you. Getting a 9 seed proved that to be true. We had some great wins along with bad losses, and the committee clearly prefers that kind of resume to a team who beats everyone they're supposed to, but no one they're not (A&M, for example).

But yet LSU was 6-1 against teams that made the tourney with the one loss being Kentucky by 2. LSU beats NC St and possibly beats NOVA.

didn't LSU have like 9 true road wins. I don't know why everybody so shocked with the 9 seed. Your not beating every team you play unless your kentucky. LSU definitely did enough this year to get in the tournament.

I don't think I have ever seen so many 20 win teams with 12+ losses in the tournament field. The committee was very forgiving this year. UCLA??? Really??? Terrible.

One big hurdle for the team is that Mickey and TQ appear to be playing hurt. They were becoming dominant players about a month ago but look no where near that now. I hope they can recover somewhat before the first game. We also need the Gray we saw in the Arkansas game to play the entire tournament.
