This could all be true, but there are still more question marks about how good Brennan can be at this point.

Just as there were about Burrow too, I mean you never know until someone is given the chance.

Personally I just wouldnt rock the boat for 1 year of King, because I think we'll be pretty disappointed there, especially if we somehow lost Brennan in that ordeal, Brennan is supposed to graduate this summer I believe so he could Joe Burrow/OSU us. And maybe he is or isn't decent/good/great, but I still think we have a higher ceiling of potential with him than a QB who makes us extremely limited in pass game. not to say King couldn't work at all, just think our ceiling is lower overall.

Just out of curiosity, what was your reaction when Joe transferred in and 2 LSU qbs left bc of it?

Well what happened there was nothign out of the ordinary.
Guy transfers in the offseason, other qbs see that he's better and they aren't going to play, so they also transfer. Common occurance there.

King played half the season, didn't like the results, so he quit.

I also, do not want.

My post wasn't a shot at Brennan. He could come in and do fine.

But just pointing out, in 2018 King had 36 TD passes and 14 rushing TDs, so he's certainly proved more than Brennan at this point, but yes it could be argued that he did so because he had the opportunity Brennan hasn't had which would be true.

He also did that with lesser talent. Who knows how great he would be if he had a Chase and Marshall next year.

I am not sold on Myles! I have to see what happens in the Spring with him. Just seem too timid to me.

I do like D’Eriq King watched him in-person in high school and at UofH...he can sling it, he’s very fast and he has actual game experience in college.

He is merely for quality depth if he comes here. Myles is our QB next year. 1000%.

QBs of his caliber are not transferring to provide depth.

if he comes in with an understanding he'd have to compete for the job, I don't see the issue of adding competition.

Although I appreciate Myles patiently awaiting his turn while learning, I want the very best player at each position. If King comes to LSU and is better than Myles, I want King to lead us.

Simple as that.

No! It's not as simple as that... How do you think potential recruits would look at it if LSU began the habit of plucking transfers from the portal every single year? We would never see Top Tier QB's commit to LSU to be able to develop and grow. ANd even still, it won't shock me one bit for Myles Brennan to tear that arse up next year. We do not need another transfer QB.

Give me King all day. He’s a more experienced Myles but can run the ball

I doubt we go after him unless whatever new offense if we do that for 2020 can somehow work what he does in very well. Still think I'd rather a QB like Brennan who has a high ceiling passing the ball. Gotta be able to pass to win at highest level. It is not one of King's best attributes, he's more run to setup pass like Jalen Hurts.

Right because King last full year as a starter he only rushed 41 times......Burrow rushed 115 2019/20

1. I don't think he is going to transfer here.

2. If he did, it would be because (just like Burrow) he was promised the starting QB job. Again, just like Burrow, a grad transfer isn't going to go to a school to "compete" for the starting job.

3. None of us know how the staff feels about Brennan. Clearly two years ago they didn't think he was the answer. Has there been enough development to change that opinion? We don't know.

The ONLY way I see the staff seriously considering bringing a guy like King in is because they think Burrow's ability to run was a huge aspect of this offense (it was) and Brennan simply doesn't bring that to the table. While everyone would love to recruit and develop their own superstar QB, it's clear you can have great success with transfer QB's and that method of roster building isn't going away.

From King's perspective he would have to beat a more established player with experience in the system and the signee/transfer numbers might not even work out.

Brennan has hardly played. Even when LSU was up big on teams, Joe was still playing. Brennan has zero competition to push him.

LSU is going to have to be able to score a ton of points with everything they are losing on defense

A spread option offense centered around King fits right into that. His running ability would create huge plays in the passing game. Him in the backfield with Emery & TDP would be unfair as well

Unless O and the staff really have doubts that Brennan can be the guy it seems unlikely.

Oklahoma has started a transfer QB for the last 5 years. Yet, in 2019 they still signed the #1 QB prospect in the nation. Ohio St. is current led by a transfer QB and they just signed the 6th ranked QB in the country

He was a team player and followed the advice of his coach.

Since you want to spin it, it could be spun many ways.

I really don't see him coming here.
Unless he plans to ride the pine, he should look elsewhere. The job will be Myles' to lose.

Brennan was the 6th ranked HS QB, 152nd national prospect. He's been here 3yrs gaining strength, weight, knowledge, maturity, and had benefit learning from JB for the past 2yrs. Starting in the Fall, MB will enroll in a light-load post-grad program just as JB did.

He is serious, focused, mature and talented. IMO he'll start for 2 yrs, and I suspect he'll do quite well.
