This is basically our year on probation, probably next season too, but I like McMahon. He seems to really know the game and how to run a program. He will have to convince top talent to come here so we can contend in the SEC again

Considering where we were after Wade was fired, that is better than expected.

Seriously, we have at least 1, if not 2 NBA caliber players on this team. One of which was a player brought in by Wade. By the way, Arkansas actually has more newcomers than LSU this year. This team has no excuse for not being competitive in the middle of the pack in the SEC.

In the age of the transfer portal, turning 8-10 spots on a roster is common.

If this team doesn’t win 8-10 conference games, it will have underachieved.

I’m just trying to keep my expectations in check so I can be pleasantly surprised vs disappointed.

I went into this season just like I did with football. I don't have any expectations at all. I know it is going to take some time to create a winning basketball culture, so whatever positive things that transpire is lagniappe.

Frankly, having a "competitive" team on the court at all is the first of those positive things for this season.

Not even a token single Top 25 vote. Only 23 teams left with 1 or less losses no matter what their schedule has been.

We seem to have won most of our games by a very small margin as well. A win is a win, but we as fans know the SEC is going to be tough.

You didn't elude (to) anything, you alluded to it. Vocabulary usage police out.

Should this team be getting more or even less respect at this point?

1st SEC games are against Ark and UK. If they can complete in those two games they'll be ok. If they get run out of the gym in both, it'll be a tough run through conference play. I'm not too optimistic. This team has a few glaring weaknesses

Fair enough...LSU Electrical Engineering here. Let's compare applied mathematics skills next.

Early season games don't mean much even if you are playing quality opponents. You want your team to play it's best in Feb. and March, not Nov. and December. The only time one game means a whole lot is Tournament time. To get in the tournament we will have to win SEC games which is very hard, especially on the road.

That said, if somehow this team can come together and play to their potential, anything can happen. I would love to see a game where we play in and out with KJ and Miller both doing damage, being competitive on the boards and hustling on defense and committing few turnovers. That would be a gas!

Please tell me you don't think Adam Miller is an NBA caliber player right now.

KJ is a first rounder. Adam Miller doesn't even get a two way contract unless he improves a ton.

The bottom line is this: if Hayes and Miller can become consistent outside shooter, this team could hit twenty plus wins.
