Armed with a 94-96 mph fastball in high school, how the hell did Pint have a 2.58 ERA last season and only 59 K's in 57 innings...? I mean, you could literally throw nothing but fastballs and easily strike out 2 guys / inning.

C'mon bro. Kids these days can hit a fastball no matter how hard you throw it. My son's teammate was the National POY. Early in the season he was topping out at 96MPH and was getting hit every game.

I just don't believe this. Maybe he hit 96 but if you are suggesting high school kids can consistently hit 96 I don't believe it...college kids can't.

Didn't I say topped out at 96? Reading is FUNdamental.

He did cruise 91-93 though until late in the playoffs because he was just overused.

it's amazing how fast high school pitchers are compared to when they enter college. ya think dad's radar gun is the culprit?

when my son pitched in high school it amazed me how "fast" the other pitchers on his team were. rumors started by dad were atrocious. then, when they all went to colleges, all but my son's went down and my son's (after some technique work) went up.

basically, I do not believe any pitch speeds that are not done by an unbiased professional with a quality gun

Coomes graduated from Catholic in 2014. He's been at LSU-Eunice for 2 years.

We also signed two other 6'5" pitchers along with a 6'7" and 6'4" pitcher.

We signed a total of 8 pitchers and 8 position players, including the projected #1 player in Louisiana, SS Zach Watson out of Monroe. He is also a MLB draft risk.

Alan Dunn had surgery yesterday. LSU has petitioned the NCAA to allow Will Davis to recruit off campus while AD recovers.

You think maybe there was some movement on those.

Actually, we did, sort of.

We signed an infielder, Nolan (Nonie) Williams, out of the Kansas City area where Pint plays. They have played against each other in summer ball and have known each other since they were in elementary school.

Yeah, I don't think he makes it to campus either.

I wanna say his exit velocity off the bat is like 105+ already.

The vast majority of our signees DO show up, yes. Even very highly rated players....Alex Bregman, for example.

If we didn't try to sign the best players, posters on here would be bitching that our recruiting classes weren't highly rated.

It's the same situation every year.

Ranters bitch about not signing kids who are highly rated. Ranters bitch about signing kids who have a chance to be drafted.

I love it
