THIS!
The fact is no one knows what everyone’s role will be. There is only one certain at this point and that’s Kling will be the starting CF. If he can’t hit then he will be replaced. Just like every starting position player. CJJ has shown he’ll play whoever he thinks gives them the best chance to win. I don’t believe he would promise a player a starter spot, just to get them out of the portal. Mac will have every opportunity to earn a spot.

quote:This is what Double 0 does. He gets fixated on certain players (Jordan Thompson, Paxton Kling, and I’m sure there’s others) and tries to diminish their talent. He call Thompson an average SS and said he wouldn’t get drafted. When Thompson didn’t get drafted where he was projected, 00 started a post seeking validation. Which is weird if you’re a true fan. There was a post about next years mock draft and it had Kling somewhere in the first round and 00 shite himself. So be prepared for yearlong posts of Kling is not as good as everyone (coaches, scouts, and everyone else not named 00) thinks he is.
You’re just trying desperately to justify you negative impression of Kling.

JJ will give these guys plenty of opportunity and it will work itself out. He knows he basically has all the way to Regionals to figure out the best lineup (and who is playing the best at that time). Therefore it is pretty useless to get worked up about it one way or another right now

Frey ain’t beating out Mac. It sucks for the younger guys like Frey and Ruddell but the bottom line is Jay brought his dude here from Arizona and he will start.

Noooooooooooo i never said he wouldnt be drafted i said theres no way hes a top 5 rd pick. I said that 2 months ago well before he started to struggle. So i was right again when i said he wouldnt be a top 5 rd pick.
Im saying Kling has to hit to stay in the lineup where as Pearson and Mac can struggle and still stay in the lineup.

Dumb why Pearson gets to stay if he struggles. Kling is just as good as a defender as Pearson

What's the story with Tanner Reaves?
Posted on 7/17/23 at 4:17 pm to TigerRuss
Nobody knows. Everyone thought he would be at LSU next season then an article was published with a quote by his coach talking about having 1 more year with him before he heads to LSU.

Experience

Experience
Kling was starting ahead of Pearson before he got hurt. Neal started at catcher before he was hurt. Jones was starting until he went into a deep slump. Experience didn’t win out this season so I’m not sure why you think it would next season.

Experience did win out. All three of those players were replaced by experienced players and LSU won the championship.

Two of them got hurt and one went into a deep slump. Oh Oh’s assertion is that experienced players get preferential treatment and that clearly did not happen. Johnson plays the most productive players regardless of experience. Yes, this year the experienced players were the ones performing best in the end, but that tells us nothing about next season.

Jay will play the best players. Nothing else to really discuss. Class and age does not matter

Kling will be the second best player in the lineup next year on this team behind tanks. I’m not sure some people realize how good he is and will be. His bat will come around. You could see it early on. There’s a reason he was nicknamed baby crews.
