Baseball program is on a decline weather or not the baseball blowhards here will ever accept it, who knows. This year is going to be telling for Paul though. If we don’t go far I think there needs to be a serious conversation. Pitching should be great, interested to see if the hitting takes a step up this year.

If pitching is 90% of winning. I think we will be in Omaha.

I’m cool with that. We’re usually ranked very high in the preseason and it never pans out the way we think it’ll go. I have a feeling that Mainieri and this team will surprise some people this year. Our pitching staff is loaded as long as we stay healthy

So we are just going to ignore that 7 of the top 12 are SEC teams?

Where was football ranked to begin the season?

But 12th in the nation so maybe the teams are all pretty good in the SEC

That's the crazy part about this site. If they were 12th in the polls and the #1 SEC team, you would have some bitching about the validity of the poll. But, because they are preseason ranked 12th and 7th in SEC; PM must go, the team is a joke, why bother playing the season....

This seems to be the consensus, even from the "baseball blowhards." Why don't we see how the season plays out before we start losing our minds?

Not losing my mind, I’m very excited for the season and optimistic. Just a lot of questioning has come up the past couple of years.

Another way to look at it over the last 5 years:

2015: Elite 8 (SEC Champions)
2016: Sweet 16
2017: National Championship Runner-Up (SEC Champions)
2018: Round of 32
2019: Sweet 16

Weather should be to our advantage. We can get a jumpstart on others with how quickly it turns warmer here.

This is where our baseball program is apparently. Middle of the pack SEC team.

Damn, does this mean we can't play this year?

Very few can seem to comprehend that there is WAYYYY more parody in baseball than any other sport.

When football season begins, maybe 8-10 teams have a legit shot at winning the whole thing.

Basketball probably has 20-30.

That number is way up in baseball. There is a massive difference between the talent gap between LSU and a ULL in football, but the gap is much smaller between LSU and those other teams in baseball.

Now, that being said, LSU should be in Omaha 2-3 out of every 5 years, because they are LSU. And I agree that great things need to happen this season, or the program may need to start looking at making necessary changes.

Meh... Most of your good teams come from southern and other coastal states, anyway. LSU isn't getting a jump on the teams that they are mainly competing with for Omaha.

I said we have great pitching and the hitting should improve. I said if we don’t make it far Paul needs to be assessed. The baseball program the past 2 seasons has been on a decline. Don’t think anything I said is false... not sure how this translates to me “losing my mind” but if that’s how you see it by all means.

You're explaining that to the same guy who just posted "there's more parody today in college baseball."

It's all over

What a stupid thing to complain about. Bets on spiderman being the first to start a melt thread that we lost a mid-week game?

No, it just means objective and knowledgeable people within college baseball circles see that LSU is not where it should be.

There will be a season and Paul will be Paul.

There’s not much patience for being a middle of the pack sec team. Paul better win big this year
