It's an interesting debate.

I'm okay with playing to win as long as pitch counts and health take priority.

And I don't care whether or not they dogpile. One celebration shouldn't determine later results and I honestly don't think it does. If it is an issue, then I think it lies more on the coach to get/keep his team focused after the tournament.

I concede that I don't believe that Mainieri has put any pitchers in harm's way here.

We've argued this on here before. I'm in the minority. I say Skip didn't care about the SEC Tourny, he didn't want to waste extra emotion and energy right before the regionals. He only wanted to win at least one game to get 3 starters their work. Skip's teams never dogpiled at the SEC Tournament.

Paul's have been great in Hoover, but then we run out of gas many times after. Now when LSU plays, I want them to win. But the total jubilation and dogpiles in Hoover is a bit much.

One big difference (and I'm not a fan of dogpiling there BTW). For most of Skip's coaching career there was no such thing as national seeds and super regionals. Regional sites were announced before the SEC Tourny even started. So if we knew we had a regional, which we usually did, the SEC Tourny really did mean nothing. That's not the case these days.

Mike Papierski and Jake Latz weren't just battery mates in high school. Latz has been pitching to Papierski since the duo was 8

Mike will continue to catch him IMO... ala Moore and Nola until PM finally played him more than once a week behind the plate.

I was very impressed with him during the fall. Much like Gibbs freshman year, it's only a matter of time.
