I don't think the plan calls for us to play these teams on back to back days.
As for the previous Saturday, there are a couple of different ways to handle it.

Thanksgiving game would suck. I'm always in Louisiana for Thanksgiving. I'll never go to a game in College Station if this is true.

I just wanna go on record and say that 1) this sucks and 2) the sunshine pumpers in here are unrealistic about what families can accommodate. My family got pissed when I went to Arky last year. Think they're gonna be thrilled with me leaving thanksgiving day? It's not gonna happen.
"just take your family to the tailgate or do it Wednesday!"
Yeah right. Im gonna make a bunch of old people who aren't really lsu fans drive from multiple states to BR, rent hotels, and then babysit them. It's equally retarded to think the entire family will adjust work schedules and tradition to have dinner a day early so that I can go watch football.
Yeah, I get it, sounds like a me problem. It's true, but I'm not the only one who is just going to have to miss this game every year. I'm not about to piss off or disappoint my whole family because I want to go see a team they don't even watch.

I don't think it will happen ultimately. This whole thread is based off of a fricking tweet.

Tigerlaff is on the money.
Why does LSU need this? What is wrong with playing on Saturday?

This totally works for me. Thanksgiving day is usually a yawner for sports. LSU night game after turkey and dressing? Pass the scotch.

Saturday is great but since the SEC sticks us with Friday every year it might as well be Thursday, imo.

Exposure. Exposure. Exposure. I love this. An I live less than 2 hours away from college station So my mom will have no problem with having early thanksgiving (we do anyway, lunch then leftovers for dinner) and make a short drive to see my boys play. My wife's family is close to death valley so I will schedule our thanksgiving visits accordingly. PER-fricking-FECT!

Who cares. I'm sure it's not the first decision you've made that will piss them off and it won't be the last. You don't have to do it every year. When the tigers are in town go see em. Tell them you have a GF and are doing thanksgiving with them.
Or simply ask them to do thanksgiving earlier.

Hell, do it on Friday.

LSU is 0-1 in Thursday night games in tiger stadium....
Posted on 6/6/12 at 11:34 pm to RBWilliams8
This sucks. This is worse than having to play the Friday after. I'd get rid of my ticket for that game. Never wanted A&M in the SEC anyway. I wonder whose stupid idea was this?
ETA: my dislike has nothing to do with family.

Good. Plenty opportunity to pad that stat now.
Y'all sure do pull some meaningless stats out of your asses like they hold any merit

keep that one handy since all the whiners and belly achers moaned that they hope LSU never plays a home thursday night game... already have 1973...

Well, you have a choice...
You know, this is a good point, I have a choice. Where as previously I didn't have to choose. I would be able to spend Thanksgiving with my family and then have an LSU game to look forward to on Friday or Saturday. Now instead of having 2 enjoyable things to do over the long weekend, I'll only get to do one, but at least I'll have a choice.
As an added bonus, instead of a having a fun weekend with some Aggie friends in Baton Rouge at an LSU-A&M game in say October, we won't get to to make that trip because strangely people would rather spend a major holiday with family. Yeah, its awesome

Not being a dick, everyone has their opinions, but if not family, why do you dislike it on Thursday? Work?

I'm smart enough to realize the benefit a game like this has.
Is this the part where you enlighten us with some cliches about "national exposure". Maybe you haven't been keeping up with current events, but LSU is now a nationally know program. We don't need a game on a national holiday with LOWER ratings than our previous Friday afternoon game to benefit us.
quote:
Oh and the nfl and nba as well. You are sO dumb.
The Thanksgiving night NFL game is not considered a marquee game. It hasn't been a high profile match up except maybe by accident if one or both of the teams wind up being better than expected, like SF last year.
quote:
To be fair, A&M & UT weren't exactly top contenders last season and it's a bit ridiculous to try and compare the Au-bama in 2010 & 2010 LSU Arky game to them.
So in other words, its not the time slot that matters as much as the teams that are in the game. So, how is this an improvement then? Oh and in 2009 Texas was ranked #2 and that game was a 3.7.
quote:
he'll probably say that this kind of opportunity doesn't matter.
What opportunity? To play a game on cable, opposite the NFL on a holiday evening? The night before a good number of people go camp out in front of stores to shop? When many people are driving home? In a time slot that got much lower ratings that the Friday and Saturday afternoon network games.

LSU doesn't need this game for national exposure.
Posted on 6/7/12 at 12:07 am to RBWilliams8
Having to work the day after Thanksgiving is usually not an issue with my job. I feel Thursday football is for mid-majors, and Thanksgiving should be for the NFL. I usually watch the NFL over college on a Thursday anyway. Most of all, I'm usually tired by Thanksgiving night due to Wed and Thurs holiday activities.
Posted on 6/7/12 at 12:08 am to Choupique19
We really don't. Sure everyone knows us. But it sure doesn't hurt to have EVERY recruit in the nation watching us dismantle AssToMouth.
Exposure is always good whether we need it or not. Why do you think coke and Nike still make commercials and ads. Surely everyone knows who they are.
