Unless you are playing the Detriot Lions or Dallas Cowboys its not.

What's really funny is you smug too cool for school guys that think LSU needs a game like this for exposure. We are a national program already. If its such a prime spot, why don't they play Alabama-Auburn on Thanksgiving night? That's certainly a much bigger game than LSU-A&M?

This time slot has been a grave yard. No one except Texas and A&M wanted it because it sucks. Its no longer 1985 when people had nothing else to watch or do. its become a big night for the movies and stores are now opening at midnight for Black Friday.

Im convinced a lot of LSU fans would rather the team suck just to ensure all night games just so they can have longer to drink

Yes, god forbid LSU fans have their traditions to enjoy. Perhaps we should move all games to 1130, maybe mix in a Thursday or even a Tuesday night game.

That's because you're not emotionally invested in those games. I think it will make thanksgiving that much more fun. Instead of getting all tired and bored my family will be getting drunk and actually enjoying the game.

We really don't. Sure everyone knows us. But it sure doesn't hurt to have EVERY recruit in the nation watching us dismantle AssToMouth.

Exposure is always good whether we need it or not

Yeah, well, our Friday afternoon game vs Arkansas got better ratings than Texas-Texas A&M, so how is playing a game with lesser ratings better "exposure"?

Most people are busy on a holiday, if its not their team, people are not going out of their way to watch. Look at what the networks air that night. Reruns. You know why? Cause they know no one is fricking watching, they are busy with holiday stuff.

This may be a shock to you, but not every LSU alum or fan has a family that's nothing but LSU fans. Can't you get drunk and enjoy the game on Friday? And now what is there to look forward to sports wise for that Friday and Saturday?

Most people are generally lazy by Thanksgiving afternoon/evening. If Tiger stadium was dead on a Friday afternoon when fans had a nights sleep, how lively do you think it would be on a Thanksgiving night?

Of course we did. It was the #1 team vs, what #3 at the time?

As opposed to a team that just came off a 5 win season and were virtually irrelevant that year. I doubt it has much to do with the time slot. Check your years and check the rankings of the teams. It varies. The years where Texas is highly ranked and LSU is lower (I know, it's been a while) the Thursday time slot has more viewers.

The time slot isn't what's making people watch these games more than another. It's the teams, the hype, etc.

why are you so worked up bro? You're saying we're being smug, too cool for school and shite when it's you being the smartass and ranting away. Its casual conversation guy I'm not attacking you, calm down.

Now, back to the topic at hand.

neither do I. I have state, ole miss, Florida, Bama and auburn as well. The thing is, there games aren't on. And if I were watching their games with them, I'd sit and drink with them too. As they would me. Being that it's the only game on yes I can watch my boys and get drunk. As can you.

Sure I can. Can't you get drunk and enjoy the game on Thursday?

They're not just going to leave the Friday slot empty. And idk what Saturday has to do with it. Those games will still be played. You now just get to get excited for legit football from Thursday-Monday.

Look, I get it's different and can be an inconvenience. I'm not here to belittle anyone for thinking that way. Just saying its not as bad as some of y'all are making it out to be.

I think they're lazy bc they're bored. They're sitting around with nothing to do but eat all day. I believe it's dead Friday bc so many people have family in town or are out of town. That won't change either way. I doubt there is a noticeable dropoff other than the years where arky was ranked highly or lsu/Texasam are ranked low. People went to the games on Friday and they'll go to it on Thursday. If anything it will be easier to get tickets.

Both of our arguments are assumption based. We won't know until It happens.

You must not attend games. I know I won't be going to that game, thanksgiving is a day to spend with family and eat a shite ton.

sounds exactly like a tailgate to me. Stop bitching.

Ding ding ding. This is better than friday, have Thanksgiving lunch tailgating, watch LSU kill the Aggies, leave after game make it back to the duck blind and kill ducks all weekend. Won't be able to make it to CS though

I agree with this. It will be interesting to see the amount of "no shows."

I just hate the way the networks are controlling college football. It just too bad it got that way. It should be the other way around. If CBS or ESPN wants to broadcast a game, they should have to get their crew there when the home school decides to play it.

So you admit you'd rather the team suck so you can have your traditions?

No wonder Saban left LSU.

Primetime would mean roughly 7 pm central. I'm pretty sure the NFL plays at 11 am or noon and 3 pm central.... Not a Thanksgiving Day primetime game.

UT and aTm played in this slot for years. Personally I don't like it - it fricks up Holiday travel and screws up tailgating for the home games.

I prefer Saturday college football myself. But the TV contract will rule, as always.

Thanksgiving game would suck. I'm always in Louisiana for Thanksgiving. I'll never go to a game in College Station if this is true.

Yeah, I guess it is just impossible to get in the car and drive over there being that it is Thanksgiving and all. You are just one state over. You have no excuses.

After reading majority this thread one thing is obv.
If it's more convenient to play this game thurs then those people are all for it.
Fact is, it's a huge inconvenience for majority of fans, not just those of LSU.

Get over it Lee. There are much bigger problems in life to worry about. I think you and the other whiners in this thread will survive just fine.

Not reading this whole thread but I would imagine there would be even fewer students at a Thurs game than the Fri afternoon one. I actually enjoy Thanksgiving and going to the game the next day. Don't think I will like this as much

Thing is, if it doesn't work, they will change it. It's not like if they decide to do this it will be that way for eternity.

Let's see how things go for the first couple of games. Maybe in 4 or 5 years they decide it wasn't a good idea because attendance was lacking. I don't think that will be the case, but we will see.

Seems like the people complaining have this mindset that a thanksgiving game is here to stay no matter what.
