LSU and Mizzou will have a rematch.

It’s the bye week and I’m bored, but I think UGA finishes with one loss and it’s not Ole Miss. Next week is huge.

We need Georgia to stay undefeated until we play them
frick playing mizzou again

It’s what I think will happen. Not what we want to happen.

For your prediction? Certainly.

Mizzou reminds me a little of A&M 2012 or Auburn 2013–a team that suffers an early loss or 2, gets better and better toward the end of the season and then pulls a major upset. And the first game of a CBS double header has produced some big upsets and wacky moments.
I know when it comes to playoff chances it’s probably best for us to beat an undefeated UGA but I just have a gut feeling (breakfast burrito talking back perhaps) that Mizzou is a team still somewhat slept on and is primed for a big upset like this to finally get everyone’s attention.

No we don’t. Win the SEC with two losses and you’re in

I don’t know why you’re getting downvoted, but this is 1000% true. I’d even say beating a 11-1 Georgia (let’s say they lose to Florida) in the SECG is still much, much better than beating Mizzou twice (assuming we are their only 2 losses).
Somebody above said a 2-loss SEC Champ gets in period, and that is simply not true. A 2-loss SEC Champ might get in, but it’s not a guarantee, especially this year with the perception of the conference being down. Early OOC games were brutal in framing that perception (Bama losing to Texas—at Bama—LSU losing big to Florida State—the time the selection comes around, the score will matter, nobody will care that it was closer for most of the game—Florida losing to Utah, A&M to Miami, South Carolina to North Carolina, etc…could easily come back to bite LSU.
Since the beginning of college football, the powers that be have hated losses. It’s been the 1st thing they’ve always looked at. It’s more important than wins (to them). It’s always the 1st tie breaker when comparing 2 like teams. You can usually get away 1 loss most years, but that 2nd loss has been damning EVERY year except 2007, which was just a crazy anomaly. LSU looked like the most dominant team pretty much all year long, and it still took a miraculous series of events on the last day of the season for us to get in.
A 2-loss SEC Champ LSU has zero chance of getting in over an undefeated P5 Conference Champ. Zero. And they almost assuredly don’t get in over a 1-loss PAC, Big 10, or ACC Champion (especially if it’s Florida State). Our best chance—besides chaos, which will almost certainly happen to some degree, maybe not the degree we want—is to have the best resume possible (i.e. the best wins possible). We currently have 1 good win—at Missouri. We need to hope they finish 10-2, and add big wins against at Bama (need them to only lose to us and finish 10-2 as well) and against #1/2, 2-time defending NC 12-0 Georgia in the SECCG.
No 2-loss team has ever made the playoffs—the committee looks for reasons to keep them out. We’ve got to give them as many reasons to put us IN as possible right now. 2 wins over Missouri is nowhere near as close to doing that as 1 win over them and another over undefeated Georgia (all this assumes we beat Bama, otherwise it’s all moot).
We really missed out on having a great weekend last Saturday with Texas, Washington, and Oklahoma all escaping with narrow wins over inferior teams. Could have been huge. That said, Go fricking Jayhawks. Rock Chawk.

It's true that LSU needs multiple chips to fall their way but most of those things are likely to happen. The catch is that LSU needs them all to happen.

No we don’t. If LSU gives Georgia their 2nd loss Georgia is out of the playoff and there’s one more spot available. If LSU gives Georgia their 1st loss Georgia is still in the playoff.

I think this remains to be seen. I get where you’re coming from, but it seems like the national media have been looking for a reason to write Georgia off. Not winning the conference, their garbage OOC schedule, and Bowers being out might be enough for the committee to leave them out despite the last 2 years.

Yes and no.
Just for grins sake, say UGA does lose to Mizzou and the Big 12 winds up with a 2-loss team as champion, which also isn’t beyond the realm of possibility.
The Acc/B10/Pac-12 champs all have one loss or fewer, filling three spots. A two loss SEC champ LSU is with a win.
(And again, it’s a hypothetical- so folks don’t argue “bbb…but UGA won’t lose to Mizzou”)

Well, there's still a lot of football to play. Georgia seems assured of winning the East, but I think they may lose to Florida, in spite of the current huge spread. In that rivalry a lot of wacky outcomes have occurred through the years
Posted on 10/28/23 at 1:35 pm to The Boat
LSU just needs to win out and let the chips fall where they fall. That's the only outcome they can control.
If the Tigers win all their remaining reg season games, they'll be in the SECCG and almost certainly face Georgia

I think the playoffs are out for LSU. We can still get to a new years 6 bowl though.

Lol Georgia wins by more than 2 scores.
Posted on 10/28/23 at 5:49 pm to Nix to Twillie
Twillie get yo arse over here so I can smack the crap outta you baw! We are in no way scared of Mizzou douche nozzle. Dude I thought I taught you better than this buddy. So you would rather play UGA than Mizzou? Are you taking the pot? You’re killing your mother Twill (just like your blow buddy who’s killing his father, Leo). People don’t listen to Twills, we would happily play Mizzou again and let UGA observe from the stands.

It's amazing how schizoid this board can be. After the Ole Miss debacle, people were talking about not having a winning season or becoming bowl eligible.
I agree-- even in the remote chance LSU wins out and beats Georgia in the SECCG, getting to the playoffs is still a very unlikely outcome.
