After what we saw today, the administration is either going to have to admit that they screwed up one of the best basketball seasons in LSU history or present proof that LSU basketball cheated. Only one of those saves their job. And I don’t believe for one second they care about LSU or have integrity to put others above themselves.

The administration did nothing wrong. Wade was asked to explain himself, and he refused. LSU has every reason to do what your thread title says.

If Alleva does find something, ok cool. Pack your bags. This is your 4th failed hire and one hire you didn’t even leave the campus to make.

After the behavior Alleva exhibited in the PMAC tonight, it's readily apparent that this is all about him.

That’s an opinion. A good argument could be made that they should have waited a little longer. Suspending him Friday wasn’t required by statute or federal law. A good argument can also be made that they took the appropriate action under the circumstances and timing.

I absolutely concede it could be warranted and could be a sound decision, but to act like “there was no other option” is just technically incorrect.

There are always options.

The fans are pissed. The fans might be irrational and wrong, but nonetheless they are pissed... so in that context the administration clearly created another problem even if their initial action was sound. Was there a way to address the problem and investigate and keep the fans calm??.. I don’t know, but if there was, that would probably have been the better route to take.

What they did wrong was asking him to come talk to them while he has legal counsel and is under subpoena ... no one in their right mind would have thought he even could talk to them right now.

So, they’re either lying about their reason for suspending him, or they’re the dumbest mother frickers this side of the Mississippi.

Thing is, I think they know. Now that it’s out in the open they are trying to save their jobs. I think wade is gone, smart probably is too and the ncaa will drag their feet dealing with this. I’m afraid there’s more. I hope not but this isn’t an isolated incident. I’m thankful of the fun this season has been and where it can go. Lets ride! The pmac was awesome tonight! Alleva and company has given the middle finger to the fans and tonight we gave it back!
Alleva getting booed by everyone was awesome. I know the wade thing is the here and now but there was more anger than just basketball. It’s the state of athletics since he’s been here.
I still don’t think wade takes the stand and he wil coach again ( too good not to). Sadly he won’t be at LSU. Hope I’m wrong.
Sec champs! If we can win the sec tourney I can’t wait to see what the committee does. I don’t really care after that. If LSU wins the tourney and not a number 1 seed, there’s more that’s wrong than shoe company’s and money! Benford and hiers did a hell of a job tonight!

If there was concrete evidence of Wade cheating he would be fired. Alleva is a coward that relies on other people to tell him what to do. He isn’t even good at taking other people’s advice. He has deminished the gameday experience by promoting a corperate atmosphere and not concerning himself with the true fans experience. He has made 3 awful hires, jury is still out on Ed O but he did have a solid season, and a great hire in Will Wade. With that little evidence you are going to leave your guy out to dry? That is cowardly, but I expect nothing less from the guy that ruined those kids lives at Duke.

The joke is on LSU for ever even considering him after that scandal; that showed he’s not qualified for anything more important than elementary school hall monitor.

I have hated him for years. I was ticked when they extended his contract some time ago. He is a puppet that regurgitates nonsense. He has no vision. He is a blind man trying to lead LSU. He is a gutless coward.

I talked to several people at the baseball game and after the basketball game and the gameday experience is everyone and my biggest complaint with him. Here I was worried he’d raise basketball prices through the roof after a great year but he gets rid of what was exciting about the future of LSU basketball.

Sounds like Wade has a problem that keeps him from doing his job. That’s Wade’s problem, not LSU’s.

I don’t blame Wade for his choices this week, but if you can’t be loyal to LSU because of legal stuff, I wish you well in your future endeavors. Sorry but LSU comes first.

The fans are idiots; can’t make your decisions based on them right now.

LSU’s actions this week established firm institutional control. When it’s obvious that the program might be in trouble, it’s undeniably the best thing to do.

Sorry, but it’s sad to see so many LSU fans side with Wade and not with LSU on this.

You are wrong and there are countless examples to controvert you. You win these battles first in the court of public opinion and Alleva has proven himself inept in that sphere.

You dont see a problem with this?? Your boss asks you to come in and have a meeting. And you don’t even show up and then blame it on legal issues.

That’s okay in your mind? The organization should just say, “all good here. The employee we paying millions of dollars ignored our request to TALK because he in trouble with the law.”

hes NOT in trouble with the law. Not talking about the situation to anyone outside of court and his own attorneys is part of the remaining not being in trouble with the law

Though Alleva has not earned the benefit of the doubt on anything, he really doesn’t have a whole lot to do with what’s going on. Alexander was the one who suspended Wade.

As far as your point, nah. Everybody on earth knows what Wade and Smart are guilty of, and though none of us has a moral problem with it, we all know it’s against the rules in a way that can hurt the program. The minute LSU and all of us learned of what could hurt the program, LSU took action. It was undeniably the right thing to do. The only way LSU wasn’t going to suspend Wade and Smart is if Wade convinced LSU that there was nothing to worry about, and Wade didn’t even show up to plead his case. He took the advice of his lawyers and chose not to be loyal to LSU or to his players. We all understand why he did it, but he reports to LSU when LSU demands he do so, or he doesn’t get to do the job.
