Remember the good ole days when time and tradition dictated these things?

Now teams like the carolina panthers, on day one of their organization, came out with the cheers and their cheesy old-style song 'stand and cheer for the panthers' that THEY wanted their fans to sing as if it had been there for years and that they are just carrying on some old style college football tradition. Like the over used Battle for the Boot. No one really cares about arky or ole miss(sad but true....we need competition) or msu. Bama and auburn still get LSU's juices flowing. And that's all you need, not a name for the game.....we will still show up.

Usually the fans and in many cases, the bands, are more creative than the owner and his outdated, overreacching marketers.

Since aTm joined last year and starting only NOW; let's give it some time. Let the most important thing -the actual play on the field - matter for now.

To the OP, good question, but can we wait for a while?

The Gulf War sounds good to me.
For those killjoys out there, and they are legion, just don't comment if you don't like the thread. Please forgive those of us less brilliant and cool than you are for daring to have a little fun during football season.
If all you can say is the game for 2nd in the west, please GTFO

a company was giving me free reign on designing a t shirt for the tailgate and I'm just looking for some good ideas. Personally I suck at coming up with good slogans ( ) so I figured this would be the best possible way to get a bunch of ideas.

Calm down bro. You're on the right board now and you'll get better responses. The OT is full of assholes like me.

Like it or not, Texas A&M is our biggest rival now. The Gulf War sounds pretty cool.

I'll throw out some random ones. Roughneck Bowl Oil Bowl Shale Bowl Derrick Bowl Petrochemical Bowl Frack Bowl Texas Tea Bowl Black Gold Bowl Light Sweet Crude Bowl Tanker Bowl Pipeline Bowl Cat Cracker Bowl (catalytic cracking, a refining process invented at Exxon BR) Etc.

I don't want to stifle your creativity, but I would seriously consider not watching a game with any of these names.

This game doesn't have a name. The Boot and the Magnolia Bowl, while contrived, at least have some flow. Not everything needs a name.

We've played them more times than we've played Auburn.

It's not the number of times you've played them, it's that the game takes on a heightened meaning and there's a lot more emotion involved. We play Miss St every year and they're definitely not a "rivalry" game. There's just got to be something special about a rivalry game, one that we circle on our schedule every year.

We definitely have a long history with A&M, but it hasn't been much recently. Give it another 10 years of close, great games that matter, and maybe it turns into a rivalry. But you can't just invent a rivalry, it has to occur slowly over time.

The Gulf War is still the best of the bunch, IMO.

So in 51 out of 123 years?

I'm still voting no.

Not good at math are we? Try again remember we've played football through the 2012(since we haven't played this year yet)-1899= 113 years.

Apparently you aren't very good at math or counting either. If we started playing in 1899 and have played through 2012, we have played 114 years of football. Dumbass.

still laughing at this but the Gulf War does sound interesting. Do you think some pussies might think that it's insensitive to Gulf War vets? I'm a vet and I don't think so, but what do y'all think?

The steel industry is pretty big in northern Alabama. Or at least it used to be.
