I also think Max had a point about the press. Did anyone notice that the ref was quick to instruct Miller on the press but ignored A&M crowding the baseline?

Absolutely. I mentioned it twice in this thread.

They would push McKinnon back 4 feet and allow faggies to step on and even cross the line on baseline throw ins.

Complete horse shite.

It’s a shame he had a rough last couple minutes. He competed his arse off and had to deal with a full court press the entire game, without any real ball handling help for him.
Yeah, he played much better than I expected, but costly mistakes at the end. You could tell he was upset with himself, almost tearing up on the court. But idiots here will accuse him of being on the take and intentionally losing. Morons.

Agreed, hope Reece turns this into a positive. Sutton was bad. We were not clutch. Hope DJ is back soon, and we come back better and crush South Carolina

The bottom line is Tamba and Sutton provided essentially nothing for 40 minutes

Tamba led the team in rebounds by more than double that of anyone else.

Tamba - 11
Sutton - 5
Nwoko - 5
Mackinnon - 5

And rebounds, specifically offensive rebounds, made all the difference here. LSU was better in FG% (46% vs 42%), 3 PT% (32% vs 29%), and FT%.(80% vs 71%). Second-chance points for aTm plus untimely turnovers killed LSU.

He was a negative in the 1st half but played a lot better in the second…until the last 2:30 where he had 3 TOs in a tie game. That was a killer when LSU could have had opportunities to create some space

Most of us thought this was going to be a loss, probably a bad loss. Instead, it came down to the last play. Reese ain't DJ, but maybe he could be down the road.

One thing that separates DJ from many other guys is that he doesn't seem to get rattled; that comes from experience.

I was expecting him to look lost. Overall he played like a Freshman, but he showed some good ability imo.

absolutely. he fricked up the press management but also made some excellent passes.

that lob was a bit optimistic but on balance I think we can be more confident in him as a backup, which we all hope he is going forward

Did he lose the clock? Or just get too aggressive? He had one guy to beat, and then could’ve drawn the big off of Mike for an easy two.

I dunno. seems like he just got a little excited and wanted that big lob. it was a bad decision. he is a freshman after all.

sucks that nwoko touched it I believe it was deflected and would have been LSU ball if nwoko had let it fly by

I came away with the opposite impression, as long as we get Dedan back. If Dedan plays, we would've won this game easily. I didn't expect to be in this game at all without him.

Actually Reece played well enough to win. Sutton was the missing link. He looked hurt after that block/ foul.

Time will tell. I didn’t take that from this game. But to be completely honest, we don’t normally start the SEC season getting blown out. We’ll see what happens with DJ. I don’t think the SEC is as good, so I wouldn’t expect a 2 win conference record this year either way

I don't understand how we weren't able to get easy baskets after beating the press.

We had them outnumbered almost every time but we would just pull up and set up with 13 seconds left.

You have the numbers, push it to the basket quick.

This is another place that where we missed DJ, because he would've either taken it to the basket or passed it to someone open. Reece definitely played better than expected, but DJ is much better at every aspect of the game. I think Reece is actually quicker than DJ, but he hasn't developed his game as much as Dedan has.

Optimistic that he might be back next weekend for Vandy

In the postgame news conference, McMahon was asked about Thomas’ status.

“A lower leg injury, will be day-to-day,” McMahon said. “We were hopeful, as you saw, we listed him as doubtful last night. We were hoping he would wake up and respond well, but there was just no way he was going to be able to play. So we'll keep him in treatment and see how he responds here when we get back to Baton Rouge and need to get him back on the floor healthy as soon as possible.”
