Tough loss, but there will be a lot of opportunities for quality wins in the SEC. Gotta stay positive.

The conference is so deep I don’t see how this team can consistently compete . Maybe they will catch some teams on an off night and pull off an upset or two but overall it’s going to be a long year.

If it’s consistently well, then shouldn’t we have been in the tournament by now and/or won some high profile OOC games? Please tell me where the disconnect is.

Just checking in, but all I can say is let this be a learning lesson for them because they're the better team imo. They have better athletes than SMU, but they let SMU force them into their game. LSU is not good defensively either, they let SMU get whatever shot they wanted. If they played on a neutral court, I think LSU runs them out the gym.

Houston was crap for a long time...sampson built that program to where it is now

Yep, it took him 4 years to get to the tournament and that was also his first postseason win (1 and done in back-to-back NITs before that).

Now he has rolling year after year. Sweet 16 or better for 5 consecutive tournaments

I mean, the loudest chant I heard all game was the LSU chant after the technical. There was barely anyone there. If felt like a neutral site game. They were just more physical and LSU had dumb, lazy passing in the 2nd half.

The game was still in Dallas, basically SMU territory, and no LSU is not good defensively. Not from what I saw.

Did you see the crowd? It looked about as neutral as one could possibly get

Might have been 60/40 SMU tops.

I just don’t see how this team finishes .500 in conference play.

Thats not really an indictment on the program considering the conference

They played about 5 really bad minutes on offense, especially sloppy passing and poor shot selection.

Yeah, with their best offensive player on the bench, our depth is shot without reed

Jalen Reed, and yes you’re right. We’re going to struggle in league play this year. The SEC is tougher in basketball and baseball than it is football.

This team was picked 13 in the sec, that may have been generous. LSU basketball has been so bad for so long , I’m numb to it at this point.
Then why comment.

I say this all the time, when you go away, we're here.

Way too many lazy and bad passes resulting in turnovers. If this team could clean up their passing and reduce turnovers to about 10 a game then they can play with most teams and are possibly a tournament team if they can stay healthy. Really afraid the consistent turnovers will cause them to miss out again this year

I think the team played well overall. Collins and Chest need to just get more confidence on offense picking up for Reed. CG3 should pick up offensively as well.

We have 3 easy games to work on new things. Boyde should get some time in those games.

Does not add up

SMU did what SMU does. They dominated the boards and got 16 pts off turnovers. Also, SMU had one of their worst FT shooting games of the season but still won by 10.

LSU has played two solid teams in SMU and Pitt and lost by 10 & 9. As of today, Pitt would probably be the 7 or 8th best team in the SEC. LSU needs to step it up before league play.
