Stated like a man who is not getting any money from the SEC TV contracts.

I don't remember who it was against but something like that either happened or almost happened a time or two in the past with LSU. That's why I remembered the rule.

I also remember a time where we finished game 2 before game 1 or something weird like that.

The field conditions won't permit it," said LSU coach Paul Mainieri. "The field is underwater, and even though it's artificial turf, it's not going to drain. We would have had to resume by midnight, but there is no way to get the water off the field in time."

With the television schedule dictating a 12:02 first pitch for Game 3, the two teams will be given until 11:30 to complete Game 2.

If they can not finish before then, a weird rule gets put into effect.

"If for some reason we can't finish the last seven outs of the first game, at exactly 11:30 that game would stop and then have to be resumed after the completion of the regularly-scheduled (Game 3)," Mainieri said. "It's kind of a goofy thing, but hopefully it won't come into play."

That's the official word. It's listed on WatchESPN though, so not sure what'll happen there.

SECN+, so streaming only. Game 3 will still be on ESPN2 as originally scheduled.

We're almost ready to resume, so a quick recap:

LSU led 6-2 heading into the bottom of the 8th. Nick Bush came in to relieve Caleb Gilbert after 7 innings. Bush retired the first 2 Vandy batters, but the next batter hit a liner off Bush's shin to reach on a single. Bush stayed in the game to pitch to Connor Kaiser, and the count reached 2-1 before the game was suspended.

So that's where we'll continue. Bottom of the 8th, Tigers lead 6-2. Kaiser at the plate for Vandy with a 2-1 count, runner on 1st, 2 outs.
