Pitch wasn’t even close to being a strike, Bain takes and we have 1st and 2nd no outs. If it’s a better pitch I trust Bain to get a hit in that situation

I've mostly agreed with you but on the hit in run you have to put it in play as the runner on first isn't looking to steal so Bain was doing what he is coached to do, try and put it in play. IT was a bad pitch.

Bain is showing his lack of hitting experience. Paul called a hit and run and all Bain could think about was making contact. He didn't think about the count being 3-1 once Paul made the call.
