Thanks Cheer!

quote:Not really. Drost, Travinski, and maybe one other. Morgan’s triple was a bad play by the left fielder and Crews has a single on a severe jam shot that barely cleared the infield. Not to mention how non competitive most of the strikeouts have been.
Despite the 14 Ks tonight, they've still scored five runs and hit the ball hard, for the most part.

Thanks Cheer. Let's do it again Friday and hope we get 2 Tiger victories!

Last time LSU played in that stadium they lost so I’m cool with the win and moving on to the next one.

You're welcome! I found out I can't trust ESPN+ at all, I don't think they even went live until the 4th. But lesson learned, the BPB went on anyway. Nice win.

Can anybody hit Morgan in the chest? This is getting beyond ridiculous.

I started off at "run them till they puke if they make Morgan do Morgan things" then I went to "if they puke, they'll be worn down for the games".
Now I'm back to "punish them until they understand that they can't rely on Morgan to bail their poor fundamental having asses out" because I don't know what happens to this team if Morgan's not on 1B for any reason. He has been carrying poor play from the left side of the infield and it has to shape up quick. It's clear why coach said the left side of the infield was a concern. I guess we get lots of balls in the dugout or the 1st base seats if Morgan goes down without improvement from the left side.
Thanks, Cheer!

We gonna address striking out 14 times or nah?

I don’t feel like going through this entire thread. Was it discussed that the umpire had about a 30 inch wide and 5 feet vertical strike zone tonight?
No wonder there were 26 combined total strikeouts.

quote:I think we already have around here and we agree that the number of Ks is a problem. That's gotta get better as well. As long as there are enough runs manufactured to win, it's not a problem. But at some point, that K number has to come down to keep winning. I don't know what to do to fix that.

Fire Javi?
How do you fix LSU's streakiness at the plate? And, ultimately, is it a problem if it's one of those things that just works itself out (more or less) during the season?
I'd be more worried about the defensive side of the game in general, meaning pitching woes and the left side of the infield, than the offensive production. The team just gives too many easy runs up through mental errors, poor technique and fundamentals, etc. at this point to guarantee a deep run. We've lost games already this season DIRECTLY attributable to errors or pitchers just getting blowed up. If those errors are erased and the pitching staff can settle down, we're talking about a far different outlook on this team at this point. If those can be cleaned up, we're fine. If not... well... maybe the next two thirds of the season aren't so fun.
The talent's there. It just needs to settle down and play clean. Hell, maybe playing FUN will get it done. There are few things that get a team to fire and operate like a well oiled machine than just having fun playing. Playing fun is easier said than done, though, when there are very important positions still up for grabs. The infielders are still competing internally to see who's going to be the starters at 4, 5, 6 going into conference play and that's a HUGE problem at this point in the season because they're wasting time trying to figure out who is the starter at that position instead of knowing who the starters are and letting them gel as an infield.
We were told the left side was an enigma and I think we're seeing the results. That directly feeds back into the pitching staff because they know, even if it's in the back of their minds, that they can't really rely on the left side of the infield to complete the plays and get the outs they should if they give up contact going that direction.

I'd rather not. Between that and the amount of times we've gotten on base kr advanced runners on bad baseball by our opponents, I'm pretty nervous for what's gonna happen 10 days from now.
