Having lived in the Louisville area for 8 years and being forced to be aware of the Louisville program during that time I can honestly say that I disagree with every single point in this post. Petrino got results because he took in transfers with questionable histories and was fortunate enough to have two local kids who were good college players and decided to stay close to home, combined with a schedule filled with invredibly weak competition. Louisville was pathetic before he got there, and was pathetic after he left. Ron Cooper has been an excellent coach for us and he likewise had a terrible record at Louisville. I have no idea if Kragthorpe will be a good OC or not, but the fact that Louisville sucked while he was their head coach means absolutely nothing.

It's pitiful that the OP would come here specifically to tarnish Kragthorpe's reputation. Not a single word addressing his strengths/weaknesses-no benefit of the doubt-just a straight hatchet job that attacks his character.

Banhammer.

That's fine and all and I think most welcome your opinion as a Louisville fan, but your opinion of Krag is heavily skewed because of his failure there, and that's to be expected. It would be like LSU fans giving Curly Hallman any kind of praise- it ain't happening.

Krag didn't work at Louisville, so Louisville fans hate him. He had success at Tulsa and Tulsa fans love him. That's the way it goes.

A few things to remember, LSU isn't Louisville, it's a whole different animal. He also isn't the head coach, he's the OC, so any downfalls he had as a HC are basically irrelevant. He doesn't need to make nice with anyone, he doesn't have to recruit, he doesn't have to run a program...he has to make sure the offense scores points, that's it.

So, your opinion on Krag is welcome, but it will be taken with a huge grain of salt.

So petrino's recruits made >2.0s and now Krag's recruits are making 3.0s

Got it

Good stuff. Hope you're wrong and Kragthorpe does well at LSU. The good thing is that Krags won't have to be the leader of this program. We've already got those. We just need someone to come in and simplify the offense and get it into the 50's rankings and we'll likely win a national title in 2011 or 2012.

The HC will be responsible for keeping our players in line not our OC.

But, thanks for your opinion. Now enjoy the view as we win the National Championship.

I'm glad someone came on here and told the damn truth. The BS was getting pretty damn thick.

Yet the truth is not something that is welcomed around here. You'll be ridiculed while they continue to deny the truth and convince themselves that nothing is wrong.

Thanks for posting.

Honestly if I'm a Louisville fan Kragthorpe is the antichrist. Dude was just ungodly awful as their head coach.

As an offensive coordinator at LSU, probably cannot get much worse than what they had so I'd call this an upgrade.

He coached football at Louisville. Move along. Nothing to talk about. Louisville wasn't built to last.

So, you play for Louis-ville or are you a coach?

Are you confusing this with roundball? Top 10 in football... Louis-ville may as well be in the Sunbelt Conference.

Wow you guys are really butthurt over this hire aren't you? With all the football smack talk you'd think I had wandered over to the Alabama forums or something. I double checked and this IS just the LSU forum right? I forgot to check my SEC sense of entitlement at the door, lol.

Anyway in response to a couple of you all, obviously my opinion isn't going to be welcome over here because you all want to like Kragthorpe, and that's fine. Someone mentioned that I should do a list of his pros and cons, well the reason I didn't do the list is because he doesn't have any. There was LITERALLY *NOTHING* positive about his abilities as a coach OR an offensive coordinator. Keep in mind when he ran the offense himself it was our lowest offensive output in 3 decades. Hope that's comforting for you. With a MUCH worse team this year, Sanford brought our offensive stats up 30 spots.

I'm not going to waste a bunch more time over here. You all sound awfully bitter about Krags being hired, and you should. Obviously you all have the better football conference but your basketball teams may as well play in the MWC. What a shitty basketball conference. Even UK's team of "studs" is 2-2 in the SEC, LOL.

I hope this forums keeps posts for a long time, after Krags gets fired after a pathetic year, I will be GLAD to come back and say I told you so. I wasn't just commenting on his ability as a HC you fricking morons, he was THE WORST OFFENSIVE COORDINATOR LOUISVILLE HAS EVER HAD in his one year of doing it alone. Oh and btw, you guys aren't 'Bama. You're not even Florida. Tone down the entitlement a little please, lawl.
