I just hope this guy's not serious when he says Harvin pushed off.

03 UGA, such a defensive battle. How many swatted pass's in that game? That's the most intense game, for the entire game, that I went to. Didn't see UF 07 or 97.

03 UGA,

So many moments when the crowd was nuts. Of course when Green made the catch but when they were backed up at the goalline it was deafening. Yea, the crowd getting pumped after giving up the long screen pass gave me chills.

What was so great about the LSU-UF game in 07 was that it was so loud for so long after they announced the USC loss.

Oh. My. God.

This is an LSU board. Please learn how to spell "geaux". And "jarridd"?

And for God's sake, understand that it isn't the LSU "tigars". The only thing you got right was "lee".

I guess it didn't seem quite as loud as the others because I was in the South Endzone across from the Student Section. It was the first game I went to that I wasn't in the Student Section.

He allowed Harvin to get behind him by several steps
Well, this video (play is at the 1:53 mark) shows that when Tebow threw the ball, McCray was right on Harvin, then broke to leap for the ball while Harvin broke downfield. He got to the ball and tipped it instead of batting it down, and the tip went in an unfortunate direction for us.

Yep, King JoJo has no idea
Again, look at the video and it is just as I described it. McCray had pretty good coverage when the ball was thrown, and he made a move to jump for the ball while Harvin cut downfield; that was when the separation occurred. McCray made the jump, got to the ball, but tipped it up instead of knocking it down. Like I said, good defense right up until the last moment.

Harvin was behind him. A better throw from Tebow and McCray never touches the ball.

Harvin was behind him.
That doesn't always mean the coverage was bad. He was moving stride for stride with Harvin up until he changed momentum to make his jump for the ball. Yes, Harvin was faster and, had he and Tebow timed his break and the pass with telepathic perfection, he would have been open. And, yes, had Tebow made a perfect throw at the perfect moment, there was no chance McCray would have touched the ball. However, that was true from the snap and is virtually always true on every pass play. Perfect route plus perfect pass almost always beats perfect coverage; physics simply do not allow the defender to occupy all of the space the receiver does so there is always some way for a ball to get through.

But on that play it would have taken better route running than Harvin did and a really great pass (which Tebow did not do) to get a completion. Forcing that kind of performance to beat you is what constitutes good defense.

And note, I never said it was perfect defense, just a good play and likely McCray's best coverage of the season. I don't recall him doing a lot of great jobs in pass coverage last year so it wouldn't take a perfect effort to rate as his best, imo.

Don't forget Tenn game in 2000 I believe, when we beat them 38-31 in Tiger Stadium. That was loud also. Sideline reporter Adrian Karsten said, I think during or right after the game, "Tiger Stadium in Baton Rouge is the loudest stadium I've ever been in."

I have never had goose bumps like that. Would have never expected the crowd to get louder. It was like the UGA TD just pissed everyone off
