Oh yea no doubt about it, I was just using them to show how much Naz possibly would have improved overall and how good of a player he would be this year.

I think Days will get more consistent in his 3 ball with his remaining time in college. Right now hes got a decent shot but damn he likes to chunk them up there.

Emmitt Just didn't get blessed with being taller, how well he has done defending the post this year shows you how hard that guy works.

Days doesn’t set his feet half the time. He had one in the corner against UK I think in second half where he shot way off balance and had plenary of time to set. Next 3 he took was form the top of the key, feet set, and drained it.

Beautiful shot though

Dude was fierce in the middle and gave us a defensive presence and rebounding now we dont have much of that anymore.

Then how do you explain the fact that the defensive numbers between last year and this year are pretty close (maybe a 4 point difference, if that) and the rebounding numbers are virtually the same, if not slightly better?

Because he has eyeballs. Lsus defense traveled and KBWs presence was huge in that and their undefeated road record vs a better sec overall surely reflects that.

How many years? Because Naz and KBW both only played here last year.

KBW may not have had the stats, but he had the “intangibles”.

Main differences I saw between him and Naz. are:

1. KBW worked hard and was one of the fastest big man I’ve seen getting back down the court. He was often back under the goal before anyone else. He kept in really good shape. Naz was slower and lazier. He came to LSU overweight, but did shed a lot of weight over time.. Basically KBW put in more effort at practice and every game.

2.KBW didn’t mind the physicality of his position, the banging and pushing under the goal. Naz really seemed to shy away from physical contact, especially early on in the season.
I remember getting frustrated about it - “You’ve got the weight and strong body, use it!”.

3. Related to number 2. above, KBW also would take a charge.

NOTE - Why aren’t our current players stepping in to take charges? Barely ever happens. Yeah, you might get called for a foul, but look how many times Skylar gets called for a charge. Sometimes he earns it, but a lot of time he doesn’t. We need to dish that out as well. Refs seem to love calling it and rarely call the new “flop” rule.
Part of good defence.

We don’t take charges because people we get on peoples hips and then they dish and shoot open 3s. We drive to the basket every play

Although not here “years”, he was at LSU for 2 years. KBW transferred in 2017 from Oregon. As a transfer, he had to redshirt for a year, but could practice with the team.
I watched a bunch of practices and he really helped the other players, especially on the scout team.

There are definitely instances where we could step in, and don’t.

As you say, we drive to the basket a lot, and as a result we get numerous charges called .

But it’s precisely because we’re driving so much, with resulting charge calls, that it becomes so noticeable that we don’t do it enough.

Agree. KBW was so solid and a great rim protector.

It makes sense because the better the rim protector the less worried the guards have to be if someone cuts to make a drive to the net.
