The defensive staff as a whole, seems lacking, BK will have some decisions to make at year’s end.

It is probably because we all talk on td about how crappy our defensive coaches are. You think they do not know what is being talked about.

used that as an excuse to flip. Bro got paid more don’t kid yourself.

lol you think Georgia is shelling out cash for a 4 star cb when they have 2 5 star cbs that were already committed?

All of these kids aren’t getting paid. Definitely not middle of the pack 4 stars

Which didn’t start until after we lost/missed on recruits who said they flipped because of the coaches. Spare me that garbage.

I think your conclusion is based on anecdotal evidence. Kirby use to be a DB coach and it’s one recruit we’re talking about. I do agree that LSU needs to recruit better talent in the secondary overall and I think in 2 years BK and the staff will have our numbers where they need to be.

I agree, my point is you better have proven coaches at those positions who develop and put them in the NFL…like we used to.

I’m not a big Corey Raymond defender, but he put DBs in the NFL. We need to find another one who does that.

It’s a development problem. Ondre Evans said as much in his reasoning for flipping to UGA.

It would be wise for BK to listen to recruits who give these reasons publicly. Evans said he’s going to UGA because he knows they will give him the best development, a tacit implication that LSU won’t.

Cooks/Steeples have no track record of developing DBs unlike our previous staffs over the last 15-20 years. They haven’t even been able to get a certain 5 star prepared to play.

We have to bring in DB coaches who don’t just recruit, but actually have a proven track record of developing them. Otherwise, 4-5* recruits will keep going to programs that have a better record of putting them in the NFL. Unfortunately that’s not LSU anymore.

I doubt you follow recruiting because this is dumb arse shite. Recruits don't always go to places that can develop them best. Many are bandwagoners, and many get paid big money. Look at all the elite QBs that came to UGA and realize that only Fromm has actually played good and stayed. Fields left, Eason got passed up and left, the 5 star from USC got passed up and left, the 5 star on the bench is leaving in the offseason, and who knows about the 5 star kid they got in this current class.

This kid got paid. He had offers from Bama and UGA already, but committed to LSU. Once he moved up in the rankings all of a sudden it was now time for him to go to UGA? No. What more than likely happened is that UGA came with a bigger bag now that he is having a great senior season.

The only problem with this “theory” is that no one in all of college football has a better track record of developing DBs.

This is like saying LSU has to do a better job of developing transfer QBs just because we lose out on a transfer QB. GTF outta here with that BS.

"No name" is a first team all conference? Moronic.

Fine, show me one single 4 star corner we have committed, because it’s not just about one guy.

All our 4 star DB commits are safeties. And we aren’t even sniffing any 5 star DBs.

One was first team all conference in the Big 12 and the other led LSU in interceptions before Cooks or Steeples got here.

Garner was like the top PFF graded corner in FBS football at UL too

Which high school DB have they brought in the last 2 cycles that has produced?

What a smooth brain comment. First of all, who would they have gotten in a month to commit year one? Second of all, the next class is literally true freshman. The fact that you made this stupid comment speaks to your overall lack of understanding simple concepts like development.

Go look at the last 5 years of DB recruiting and tell me where the great players were? Stingley played about a year and a half. Ricks played about a year and a half. Outside of that, different transfers, and Jay Ward, and Cordell Flott were your best guys with Mcglothern just on the cusp his last season here.

Stop star gazing like an idiot and understand good DBs need time. Guys like Huges and Stamps have great potential, but need the development. I want guys that want to be here and compete. frick the rest.

That’s totally my point, we have DB coaches who can’t develop them. Even if they are 5 stars (see Denver Harris).

If a DB coach can’t even get Denver Harris ready to play, that coach will never get any DB ready to play, much less develop him.

our best DB's showed huge potential and played immediately. Jamal Adams, Grant Delpit, Stingley, Peterson, Mathieu, etc.

I guess we don't recruit these caliber guys anymore because we don't want to stargaze.

Corey shouldn’t come back, but there are great DB coaches/developers like Chevis Jackson we could hire from Marshall…

I can think of a few others too.

I agree, we need some LSU blood out there delivering the coaching, the message, and the expectation

You realize that Steeples hasn’t even been here 2 years at this point? This entire staff is in their 2nd year? The DB was a mess when they arrived?

You also realize that he is a young, new coach that recently played in the NFL and last year was his first year to develop and “establish his record”?

Just relax. Stop whining about recruiting and how terrible you think LSU is at coaching and football. Apply for the fkn job that isn’t even open. Whiny Mfers!

At least Steeples tries. I’m not sure wtf Cooks does daily.

Ok I’ll relax. LSU better have a damn good defense next year though after wasting the second best offense in LSU history this year.

Because next years offense won’t hold a candle to this one.
