Yesterday, our team:

Started a pitcher who missed all of 2018 after surgery

3 (Dups, Watson, Hughes) position players with a lot of prior year experience - one of whom is simply playing for their glove

1 position player (Smith) who was hurt most of last year

1 position player who was freakin cut from the team (Reid)

4 players who weren't on the team last year (Willis, Digiacomo, Beloso, Mathis) - 3 of whom are freshmen and one of whom played a year at Juco

This team has the talent to beat anyone, and the inexperience/immaturity to lose to anyone. It's going to be a crazy ride.

And that won't matter one bit if LSU stays on its current path in SEC play. We will still be a top 8 seed.

Based on what? Look at the people who are actually starting right now.

Nope. I’m good. I still don’t like Paul as our coach. 2 wins aren’t gonna do it. A championship wouldn’t do it.

This board is great. We actually have people that would want to fire CPM after winning a 2nd championship.

“ it’s not about wins and losses”

It’s always about wins and losses. Miles wasn’t fired simply because he hadn’t won a national championship lately, but because he wasn’t winning enough games and having too many L’s. Not being competitive in winning the west certainly was a factor as well.

9-3, 5-3, and 4th in the SEC wasn’t good enough. 35 games later, 10-3, 5-3, and 5th in the SEC is extension and salary boost worthy.

Paul has been highly successful both in the SEC and nationally. What he hasn’t done is produce the national championships as frequently as skip.

you look at em. 4 guys in the field with CWS experience. Just two new faces, a freshman and a transfer. 2 of our weekend starters have CWS experience. Our bullpen may be the most experienced group of all.

What team are you looking at?

Yes and no.

Walker threw like 10 pitches in Omaha, and Hess' experience is as a reliever.

With that said, this is our most experience team in quite some time.

The only difference between this MSU series and most of the others is that the experienced top half of the lineup produced like they are capable of..the bottom half is still pretty bad.

That's a pretty big difference.

I mean that they were there and contributed heavily to a CWS team.

The number of college innings on this team is extremely high for a team that is consistently good. And we all knew this and talked about it extensively when Watson, Hess and Dup decided to return.

To be fair CPM didn’t vote the team preseason number 1. The best catcher in the team can’t catch at the moment. It will get better when Garza comes back full strength.
