Crazy that he's hitting significantly better than JT (not bashing) and people are shitting on him and saying he won't play next year, meanwhile they were holding JT's water (again not bashing) when he hit 240 and K'ed just as much

Yes JT had more AB's for the K's, but also significantly less power. K's are going to come from power hitters.

Yeah Jones looked foolish when it got to SEC play. But wow if he can improve. Plenty power.

He struck out a ton before SEC play too. By the time SEC play began, the scouting report was out that he couldn’t handle breaking balls. I have confidence he’ll figure it out, but if he doesn’t, he won’t play

He had 100 more ABs than Jones and struck out only 7 more times with 15 of them in the CWS. JT’s BA was also around .275 entering the CWS. Starting 1/30 in Omaha is not indicative of what he was the majority of the season

Not bashing either one but your comparison is apples and oranges

SS has to have the defense, especially if nobody on the team is close in that regard

You brought it up, but I'll refrain.

Even with Jones' struggles, his batting average was almost as close to JT's OBP as JT's batting average was to his.

Different types of hitters. Jones is going to K more. But with 100 less AB's he beat or tied JT in 2b, HR, walks, and was within sniffing distance in total bases and rbi's.

Again half the team can compete for dh or 1b position. Very few on the team can truly compete for the SS position

I think it's a little presumptuous to just slot Jones into the lineup next season.

I don't.

I think its presumptive to think these guys will be 3,4,5 though.

What about the Juco infielder we got. Anyone know if he will be ready to compete at this level? In 60 games he hit .422 with 20 HR and 86 RBI

Throw a little 'Frey' in there too. He is going to punish the ball next season.

Jones will be in the line up next year. He’s getting the Ty Floyd 2022 off-season treatment right now from this board. Sad.

He might very well be in the lineup next year, but if you are slotting him in at the 4 spot right now after how he ended the year and how he is currently hitting, you must not have very high expectations for next year.
