I know we have a lot of threads going, but has an actual attorney weighed in on this new lawsuit and their opinion on what could happen?

Several posters have asked for an attorney’s point of view in the last several days actually and we have gotten absolutely zero

Lake Charles finest public defender just saw the signal and should be here shortly to help

I could’ve been a lawyer so I’ll weigh in…
My opinion: frick Greg Sankey

I wouldn’t recommend listening to any attorney who thinks he or she may be in a position to offer any sort of “specialized legal insight” more than I’d trust the insight from any random or maybe generally respected poster.

I don’t know the finer points of sec expulsion procedure, but there would be lots of damages in a suit against the SEC. I think LSU’s best defense to this would be unequal enforcement on members that signed pro players due to the SEC’s lack of defining what “signing a contract with a pro team” means.

Here is mine.
I don’t have access to all of the pertinent contracts, nor do I want to speculate about what they say.
But if the conference boots LSU, it will result in the litigation equivalent of nuclear war. LSU would sue everybody, including the SEC, its member schools, ESPN, Jim Sankey, and others whom we can’t even imagine. It would drag on for years, and could ultimately kill college football as we know it.

There are a lot of angles. What this may all come down to is the SEC bylaws do not require proof or wrongdoing. All they have to say is that they no longer want to be associated with LSU. That is why they are making a First Amendment claim.
LSU's best shot is to prove collusion. This would trigger antitrust involvement if it is proven that the other SEC members, as competition, colluded to keep LSU from competing.

Somehow these insiders are saying that the votes are already there. There was an unofficial meeting between the competitors without LSU being present.

SFP is a hack. If he weighs in take the opposite stance. He doesn’t have a clue.

In can’t believe Moo State would be in for this. We’ve been friendly in out mutual hatred of Ole Miss. this entire thing stinks of Bama, Knoxville, and UGA.

And when LSU counters, and they will if this happens, not only will lsu win massive damages, for brand damages, it will open up discovery among all members and collusion will be proven.

Called collusion. When lsu sues, it will open up discovery, amo g other things....collusion will be found, and sec fricked even more

Don't beware of SFP because he trolls. Beware of any attorney who isn't in the line of law that deals with this stuff. Much like every other profession, lawyers only know their lane. The ones who act all knowing are clearly dipshit posers.

I'd want to know if LSU would be able to sue for all the future TV revenue they are currently a party to. Seems like there would be a lot of money on the line.
