So he's their version of several Tigers, I can live with that!

He can't help to act like an idiot he's a gamecock. They all do. I'd like him and Petry from their team to transfer to LSU as well.

In other words, he behaved exactly like our players.

Pretty much. I don’t mind that, but when you’re getting no hit through the 6th and you draw a walk, dont run like a sissy to first base. UK and A&Ms antics are so weird, this is not softball.

I thought it was a bit excessive, esp with 6 innings left to play

You can't complain about his celebrations with some of the stuff our guys do

This is actually a pretty DA statement to make, because the LSU players are actually pretty respectful when celebrating (by todays standards) hitting the Tommy is mild. Its a reflection of their head coach the way lsu players act like they have been there before. Don't try to diminish that with this bs statement.

Dude can play. If he transferred to LSU, I’d root for him.

I will say our players have toned down the antics a lot over the last year. It is like they have been there before because, well, they won the whole thing last year. Have not seen a huge show like JJ blowing up at UK pitcher this year.

Our guys do similar stuff, take off the purple glasses

I would love for you to find an example from THIS SEASON where an lsu player did anything remotely close to that.

Did you not read Jones' lips after he got in the dugout following his homerun? "Get out of here with that weak arse shite."

I like all the emotions, trash talking, etc. in college baseball. Most of those guys won't ever see a MLB field, so let them have fun and enjoy the moments.

There's a limit, but I agree. And sometimes that line is hard to draw. But I'd say it's more than just having fun. When everybody you face is throwing 95+, you have to talk to yourself and psych yourself up to go up there against that. "Bring that weak shite in here, motherfricker. I dare you."

A lot of times you have to pump yourself up by talking to yourself like that, and if you hit a 440 foot bomb, it's hard to turn it off immediately and just casually stroll around the bases with a big arse grin on your face. You have to still be kinda pissed he had the fricking audacity to actually throw you a strike there.

And catchers and home plate umps talk to each other all game and usually have a pretty cordial relationship. I can see an ump giving a catcher he's probably pretty cool with a little bit longer leash in a big moment. But that doesn't mean our fans aren't allowed to hate him. Or our players aren't allowed to get pissed off. I'd hope every pitcher who saw that noticed and wanted to shove it up his arse if they faced him later. Just as I'm sure SC's guys felt about Jones after his chest beating.

I love all the in-game hate personally. As long as they leave it on the field after the game/tournament is over. If we play SC tomorrow, I hope our pitchers remember that celebration from last night. (Also hope they remember the 440 foot bomb that proceeded it and avoid hanging him one up in zone over the plate like that again, too ).

Exactly! And that JJ moment was retaliation for something the pitcher did. Not just doing it to do it. And I bet Jay said something about it to him because he hasn't done anything like that since minus the quick horns down.

Messina has been a beast in the tourney. He's earned the right to celebrate. Just glad he didn't get to celebrate in the end.

He argues on every K. Came close to getting run by the umpire in an earlier game.
