The athlete is considered greedy because they are trying to negotiate for more money on their behalf. But the institutions, colleges, owners are not considered greedy when they try to keep as much of the revenue for themselves?

I'm gonna be honest.....this makes me even more disgusted with college athletics......from all this NIL shite, to the portal, to that football/basketball game last night.......the powers to be don't realize it, but they are destroying college athletics...and they have already destroyed college academics with all their woke bs.

There is no way this girl did free photo shoots. What possible reason would she have for doing so? If you mean her sister taking photos and film of her doing cartwheels on the beach, then this is not exactly a professional photo shoot and would have only earned her what social media paid for it. Was she getting social media money prior to enrolling at LSU? If so how much? That would be an indicator as to how much she lost out on her first year at LSU. As far as I know she was getting NIL money for the last four years.

Why is she even speaking there. Hasn’t her entire college career be run in the NIL era?

I could care less about the players. Even those at lsu. They are paid to be here, they are taken care of better than most in our society, educated, and celebrated.
Used to I would love to learn each players story across most sports. Since nil I could care less. It’s all about the school winning for me, even that matters less if I’m being honest. They are paid mercenaries/tools to obtain an objective. No different than a prostitute and a paying customer, or at least what I imagine that transaction being like.

I'm sure this has been mentioned but why tf didn't she opt out under 23(b)3? That rule is tailor-made for these one-off situations.
Obviously Livy Dunne is far from being the median NCAA athlete and it's unjust to hold up the entire class settlement for a few unicorns like her.

The settlement would offer $2.8 billion in damages to players who couldn’t earn NIL money before the NCAA changed its rules in 2021.
This is dumb. It also will not account for all the under the table money, gifts, and special treatment these players got.
You changed the rules. It wasn’t allowed before, and officially the Supreme Court never never ruled on the specific issue of NIL as it was only briefly mentioned in one concurring opinion that was not binding.
This is just more redistribution of wealth. House is going to be a cluster one way or the other.

I think all but her first season, but she has been on the team for 5 seasons I think which would give her 4 seasons of NIL in college.

she’s got a legitimate argument to object to the settlement
