we always pick up trash, BUT...

we tailgated till about 5 pm after the Appalachian state game.. about 4:30 the LSU workers came by to pick up the yellow trash cans.. well we witnessed them picking up the trash cans and dumping them on the ground.. well we had been putting all our trash in the cans up to that point, so someone ask him what was up.. he said ohh we really don't care if you put it in the trash cans, our job is to just get the cans, the prisoner's come by later and pick up the trash. now we don't trash the place, but i do have a little less respect for the yellow trash cans.

You figure 40-50 plastic cups for a tailgate as you just keep refilling from the keg.

Or about 162 bottles or cans of beer laying around.

Its much harder to clean up broken glass than a plastic cup.

I always clean up my tailgate spot and put all trashbags in the dumpster after each game. Not a single thing is left behind

When you get up in the morning it is all gone. It is kind of like Mardi Gras. After Katrina had the same reaction because we had to stay 'In a Tent' on campus (no rooms). There were workers out there all night long cleaning up. It was kind of cool. We did this for three home games and the workers would rather have the garbage left outside of the cans than in them. I don't know? Maybe they recycle or something. No worries.

or they could be picking up blown out tires on the interstate instead of picking up some lazy fans trash. Louisiana leads the nation in deaths on the interstate due to debris.

Don't keep littering. It's ignorant.

So litter all you want because prisoners pick it up.

Hey, who gives a frick that the longer they are out there, the more it costs to taxpayers. I CAN STILL RATIONALIZE MY LAZINESS IF I WANT TO DAMMIT!

They could all be doing something, it's not like we have a shortage of prisoners.
they should be out there everyday picking up trash around the city, instead of sitting in my air conditioned funded prison with a tv and 3 meals a day.

Bring all you want the convicts will still have the campus back to pristine conditions by noon on Sunday and you get a little extra coin in your pocket for the next games tailgate party...

Is the trash still there? If so I would see cause for concern. Apparently LSU has compensated for this and made arrangements ahead of time to clean up the trash.

If there are 500,000 pieces of trash on the ground, and the crew cleans up 90% of that (since there are always pieces that blow away or aren't picked up), then there are 50,000 pieces of trash left blowing around campus and BR.

If there are 1,000,000 pieces of trash on the ground, and the crew cleans up 90% of that then there are 100,000 pieces of trash left blowing around campus and BR.

It helps to pick up your trash in the short term, and in the long term. No rationalizing that. Do your best to not litter- don't be an inconsiderate a-hole.

I'm sure this problem will be fixed with additional tailgating regulations soon... no parking in grass, no tents larger than 10x10... within the next 10 years, I bet that you will have to apply for a permit to even think about tailgating and of course, donate more to TAF.

Many of these people don't go or did not go to LSU. Therefore they are not going to respect it as much as an LSU student or alumnus would.

I call bullshite. In the area mentioned by coon at the start of the thread, it is probalby 95% students.
