I agree with you Golfer.

Once again, it all goes back to freaking personal responsibility.

TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF AND THE THINGS AROUND YOU.

Don't make a mess and expect others to pick it up ... inmates or not.

shite! It's not a hard concept ... that's exactly why I make my kids pick their shite up around the house ... they don't and it's mine after being told 1x MAYBE twice. Gone .. mine, often for good.

Saw the same thing but there was trash everywhere with the trash cans half full. Some people try but majority don't care.

nobody bitches about the garbage left in the stadium.
ROTC and other volunteers end up picking that up, which i think is stupid they do that

Not being ugly ... I read somewhere recently (or maybe heard on radio) that the stadium is cleaned by groups that are paid ... I remember thinking oh, that's surprising as I thought it was a volunteer thing.

??? Anyone know ???

Tragically, this problem would be so easy to fix. Every tailgater should bring enough empty trashbags to cover their event. That should be easy enough to calculate - just bring an entire roll or box of whatever you use at home - take the extras home, you're going to need them anyway.

If everything is simply, neatly put in bags, the university and city officials will need about a half a day to go around and collect all of that trash. As it is, the trash that is left on the ground has to be cleaned up by G-d blowing most of it off campus, and making it somebody else's problem, because it is literally impossible to get it all cleaned up, as it is now.

Sad, and completely avoidable by the people involved had they been raised correctly.....

The stadium, yes. The campus, however, is cleaned by prisioners beginning around 4:30am Sunday. They are usually done by 10am-Noon depending on the game.

Facility Services comes around Sunday mid-day to do any additional cleanup that might be necessary.

NO it's not.

i pickup my trash, and so does everyone around me every game.
The only trash you can control is your own and the people around you a little.

and i don't see anything wrong with making prisoners get out in the heat early sunday morning and picking up the trash that other jackass's left.
make them get out there at day break and it will be done before anyone really gets out there to notice it.

If we didn't have to spend money on picking up someone else's trash, we'd have more money to spend on fixing roads, improving parks, etc.

we don't pay them to pick it up. we pay to transport them there.

It is embarrassing to see the lack of respect for our campus and other people. I didn't make the mess, the campus grounds people didn't make the mess, you made the mess. I just want to say pick it up you inconsiderate A-hole.

We should start a campaign to clean it up. We can still party like no other school, and still have a clean place afterwards.

Thanks. I noticed that leaving the stadium Dan Borne said something about picking up your trash on the way out of the stadium.

It is a volunteer thing (nobody is "forced" to) - but the university does toss a little money at the groups that volunteer. Mainly it is ROTC, Fraternities, and other student groups as part of each's organization's overall fundraising effort.

At least that's the way it was 15 years ago...

A more pressing need is to have family restrooms inside TS. I had to take my 2 year old in the men's restroom during the 3rd quarter and it was embarrassing to have 2 out of the 3 stalls filled with people puking their guts out.

Exactly. We could be spending the money somewhere else having them do road improvements, grass cutting, etc. Things that we couldn't easily take care of ourselves.

my cousin had to clean up the stadium at least 4 times each year he was in ROTC. He had to pick 4 games to stay and help clean. He didn't get paid.

He didn't get paid personally, but the cadets, as a group, get money into their general fund to pay for activity shirts, parties, etc.

We tailgate in that area and stay after the game. Our area gets picked up by us but some guy came behind us and started EMPTYING the trash can on the ground to get the cans.

We said something and he moved on but I am sure he did that all the way down the entire tailgate area.

That is not to say some groups don't clean up their stuff, definitely something everyone needs to do.

Now, if only we could stop the constant public urination on the bike path in that area in front of our kids and guests. Nothing like having your 10 yr old daughter going to retrieve the football, only to find some idiot peeing by the truck holding his johnson...

It is what it is, many La folks are apathetic, aloof, and trashy. It is partly why La parties harder and has it's famed "culture" on the positive side of the ledger, but the aforementioned is a poor byproduct of it's negative. And our cities and streets bear this fact out.

Trips to Gainesville, Athens, Oxford, Auburn, Starksville,etc..confirm this. They aren't as much fun as Tigerfan, but clearly are more meticulous, impeccable, puritanical, in their ways and conscience.
