I usually park in lot D and never walk back toward tigerland along 30, but this week someone else drove so I parked down past Burbank. After the game walking to my truck from lot D I was embarrassed by the amount of trash that tailgates leave just piled up on the side of the road. I’m not talking in bags, just in general piles of trash like beer cans, cups, plates, and anything else you can think of. It’s a shame that people don’t have pride in their campus enough to clean up after themselves.

Also, I found the van stuck in the ditch between 30 and the railroad tracks amusing…

That is all.

This is the problem. Too many people relate tailgating to a mardi gras parade.

I agree. Where I tailgate we have a horrendous mess. But after the game when we pick up we clean it all up and throw it away. Its not that hard and it still leaves piles of trash around but at least its in bags...

That van is probably gonna sit there for a while

coon,
i all defense, we tailgate along there and they put garbage cans chained with padlock to the light poles. now come on, that is not many cans. i bring garbage bags, and gave out some bags, but the amount of people saturday was unreal. not everyone is prepared for the garbage.
tailgating check list - garbage bags.

One major poblem is there aren't enough trash cans to begin with. The ones that are there, you're lucky if tey leave you an extra bag. We have three cans for a group of about 50-75 every gameday. I bring extra bags and the entire group cleans up before we walk to the game. We easily have 8 full bags of trash per game.

uh, it's not hard to a) bring extra bags, and b) put trash into extra bags.

I feel your pain, one of the the fraternies on the Parade Ground had shite all over the place after the game...their porta potty was tipped over...trash everywhere...

We have about the same number of people at our setup and there wasn't a piece of trash left on the ground.

The only good thing is that it gives the inmates something to do at 4am on Sunday...

we pay taxes for a reason, and that's what prisoners are for.

I agree you should be mindful and not be sloppy, it's not that hard to throw your beer can away, or at least near a full garbage can.

it always gets cleaned up though, so i dont know why people bitch about it every year.

We were walking by the Tiger Mart (or whatever it is now) behind the band after the game back to our car ... that area was trashed. I commented on it to my husband and kids ... truly trashy. It's not that hard for people to pick up after themselves.

Wow, not only do these two not correlate, but even if they did it would still be retarded.

We should start a "Clean Your Campus" campaign for the next home game.

See if we can get some local stores to give us some free trash bags and then hand them out to people around campus. Heck, with as many people that are on TD.com, we could make a huge dent in this problem and almost kill it completely.

We just need some volunteers, get in touch with Sports2 and we'll even get a spot on the news.

Let's make this happen.

Many of these people don't go or did not go to LSU. Therefore they are not going to respect it as much as an LSU student or alumnus would.

Its the principle that you should take care of the campus that takes care of you...

You should see some of the rules that other schools have in place for tailgaters to eliminate problems like these...

Children of the Y generation or the 'corporate bond badies' of the world, whom are overly spoiled and think they are above cleaning up behind themselves. If they had been taught that litter is bad or crime like, it wouldn't be there or least very manageable for those that do the picking up.

nobody bitches about the garbage left in the stadium.
ROTC and other volunteers end up picking that up, which i think is stupid they do that.
there is nothing fun about picking up trash, which is why prisoners should do it.

and how do prisoners and taxes not go together, how do you think they eat, or sleep with air conditioners, or have gaurds watching them.

No amount of complaining will change anything. Tailgating is a huge party at LSU. We live in LA and we celebrate Mardi Gras so its not far fetched to believe thats how we act. Trying to get people to clean up on gameday would be like trying to make people clean up before they go home from Mardi Gras. I agree, do your part as best you can, thats all you can control. It gets cleaned up Sunday anyways. I think the extra trash cans have helped some.

Your attitude is horrible.

If we didn't have to spend money on picking up someone else's trash, we'd have more money to spend on fixing roads, improving parks, etc.
