After an award festooned, undefeated, record setting national championship season, I think I’ll trust the coach.

Smith and Linehan were just a couple of several coaches they traveled the country talking to and studying before bowling green. Plus the idea happened before any of that.

From your article:

quote:

They spent the previous spring with the offensive coordinator for John L. Smith, Scott Linehan, who in Louisville, was blowing the doors off defenses with their spread formation offense. The former quarterback from Idaho, working under Dennis Erickson at Idaho, was the genius behind this new powerful spread attack and was excited to share his ideas with Meyer and Mullen.

Ok? Not sure what your point is. There are multiple articles where Meyer credits Linehan as a major influence in developing his offense?

What does that mean today? Nothing.

But it’s a fact,

No different really, especially with Ensminger being really the only holdover from last year.

if Linehan can harness the pockets of good he has had, this offense can flourish. His recent resume says otherwise though.

He made a comment in a seperate topic saying Linehan has never ran a spread offense.

I said the statement that “Linehan was Urban Meyers mentor at Louisville” is false which it is. In reality what happened was the same thing that almost all coaches do in groups with one another every summer. Did you know that Hal Mumme and Nick Saban used to talk offense in a group during the summer when they first started? Does that mean Saban was Mumm’s mentor and started his offense? Then I responded to your post.

While at Notre Dame, he began meeting with his intellectual mentor (his actual mentors were guys like Lou Holtz), Scott Linehan. (Yes, that Scott Linehan.) He was hired as Head Coach of Bowling Green, and decided that -- in years that just happened to be the rather formative ones for the spread -- he would have his staff learn at the masters' feet.

Linehan has never ran a spread offense

quote:

Linehan is far from a spread guy. He comes from a mix of Air Coryell and West Cost descendants. He’s literally never run a spread offense.

Then from your own article:

Wrong. They are people who saw his last offense with the best line in the NFL completely fall flat. He'll be fine here.

A- I haven’t addressed you once, I’m talking to someone else.

B- you’ve said anyone who runs 3 wide is running spread.

C- you’ve said Linehan runs the “Air Aid” offense, even in the NFL.

You don’t know what you’re taking about. You try to use word games to make false statements. Get over yourself.

People can debate whether the hire was good or whether Linehan is the right guy, etc. That’s a matter of opinion.

But whether Linehan was a spread coach? Whether he was an early adopter and influenced many coaches?

That’s inarguable. You can find hundreds of articles discussing it.

False. Thats absurd.

False, there's no such thing as an "Air Aid" offense, now Linehan's offenses have had some Air Raid components, much like they have spread components, of which you've been proven wrong by your own article link.

Congrats.

He hasn’t run it in 20 years. Just because he copied Tiller for 2 seasons doesn’t mean he’s a spread guru. In the NFL where he’s been ever since he’s been a run first coach. In Minnesota he was APs OC during his prime years, he’s been the OC in Dallas since the season before Zeke arrived. He had a couple outliar years in Detroit where they couldn’t run and threw out of necessity. So if you’re going to use 4 out of 20 years as the rule and not the exception then fine but don’t act like it’s being logic based or objective.

He is using the words of other coaches Moron. I think everyone will believe everything they say before believing one word of what you say.

Especially since someone in this very thread caught you in a bold-faced lie or just proving how stupid you are and posted the evidence of it.

Pretty bad look all around for you in this thread.
