re: Lil Nicky employing 1/9/12 game plan once again?

If I have a worry about our passing game this weekend, it's that we won't be able to stop Jennings from getting repeatedly sacked before he has time to throw the ball. I sure hope that our QB's and running backs can execute the short dump off passes and screen passes this weekend.

AJ10 throws the deep ball on the sideline well,
We didn't try this a single time on 1/9/12. If we had, there would have probably been a few long TD's because CB's were so unconcerned about the passing game.

but he will put as many bodies in the middle as he can until we prove we can pass. if he has to back up, our RBs can run on them.
This is what I think. Saban is going to dare us to pass...

Saban will put 8 or 9 guys in the box and make our QBs beat them with their arms. We need our guys up front to get a push. I expect LOTS of blitzing from every angle; so, a well placed WR or RB screen could catch Bama off.
A battle of the QBs doesn't favor us. Our avg. QBR is 141.8 vs. 168.2 for them. That said, Sims didn't look great on the road vs. Arkansas or Ole Miss. I think Death Valley can have an affect on Sims like it did on Bo Wallace.

I think for LSU to win Both QBs must be a part of the game plan.

It is not the same offense.

Dude other than a couple trick plays Miles has never had a secret play book.!! LOL

on 1/9 Saban adjusted pass coverage to limit the open space available for Jefferson to run on pass plays, he kept his linebackers closer to the line vs. sagging into the zone. He really didn't stack the box to stop the running game. Of course, IMO, the o-line right now is way ahead of the one on the field on 1/9. Running backs are better as well

For sure. This can help us. We need to blitz him early to get in his head. We also need TreWhite to have the lockdown game of his life on Cooper.

This makes me think Miles will have a secret playbook. Perhaps Harris has a few planned series strategically placed in the first half to mix things up
I think you are correct, sir.
I have photographic evidence of Les sharing the secret playbook with Harris:

Do you actually believe this?
Every year LSU's playbook opens on this date. I see gameplans and plays that have been practiced since August and never used on that marked November game. EVERY YEAR, so, yes, I believe there are a few plays saved for the gumps. Just hope they work like a charm.

The 1/9/12 game plan also involved one of the best defenses in college football history.

Saban is going to do what has been their M.O. for a long time. Strong running game, little screen passes or dinks over the linebackers, in front of the safeties and corners.
Cooper will certainly be thrown to and I bet they'll give OJ Howard throws too.
Put a net on Cooper and make Sims uncomfortable, get in his head with the noise, disrupt him back there with either noise or pressure or both.
I don't think we'll see Harris in this game. Jennings just needs to do what the coaches ask. Don't try to win it in one play. Just do what they ask.
They'll no doubt cover Dural, which leaves Quinn (who I think will get a lot of plays in this game) and don't forget about Diarse.
And we've slowly incorporated TEs getting passes too, I'd like to see that continue too.
I'm ready for this game!!

B. Trying to throw the ball, which we suck at, into man to man coverage?
Actually man to man coverage is a lot easier to thow into than zone. Zone requires that Jennings read coverage and not stare down our WR. At least with man to man (with no safety help) Jennings has a better chance of having success. Bama won't play much man to man. Probably the only time you'll see it is inside the red zone.
