(Nola.com)Interesting interview by Times Picayune LSU beat writer Jim Kleinpeter with John Jefferson, JJ's father."He said he didn't know anything about a fight."John Jefferson said, also adding his son also said"I've been here four years and know it ain't worth it.When I see something going down, I leave.I have too much to lose for that.Seems there is no way to get even close to the truth without letting the legal system sort out the actual truth or at least attempt to find the truth.Unfortunate mess.

Those were likely his daddy's words and not his. How does daddy explain the starting, high-profile QB being out three hours after the 10:30 bed check curfew, being at a bar where drunk people are at 1:30 a.m., not walking away (per many witnesses) from a fight with smaller drunk people and not heeding ALL the warnings you have been given about avoiding situations like this.

This may be a good kid generally, but his actions were terrible considering his position and stature
and he and daddy must accept that there is now a proce to pay. This is a 21 year old senior.

AlxTgr, thanks.

I respect Chris Warner and appreciate his game week pieces from the past, but he is just flat wrong in his letter.

Can anyone confirm whether his letter has been printed in the Advocate? If so, I may want to send my retort.

Jordan has a batter chance than shep. Shep broke ncaa rules. They wanted him suspended the ehole year, they reduced to 6the ganes. Miles is trying to get it to 4. Jordans situation is completely up to alleva and miles.

Seems like he should know 2 things.
1. That's too long for a letter to the editor.
2. This isn't the Advocate.

In defense of LSU’s much-maligned quarterback, Jordan Jefferson, it does not take a constitutional lawyer to realize that he has not received due process. Further, Coach Miles has, in my opinion, prematurely rendered punishment, as it is not certainly known whether Jefferson is guilty of the alleged battery charges. Perhaps Mr. Alleva’s noted, knee-jerk preference for doing what he feels is “politically correct,” has affected the situation?

Seriously Chris. We know neither JJ nor his attorney have NOT denied these charges. There is also no dispute to the curfew violation and fight involvement. Coach Miles made the right call. Also, you can disparage the "political correctness" of this decision. But, being PC is important for the reputation of LSU which is a hell of a lot more important than the reputation of the accused attacker. This team and this University need to separate themselves from this embarrassing behavior.

IF JJ would have left the bar when the b.s. started going down, he would NOT have had a problem

If JJ had read (and followed) the LSU Student-Athlete Handbook, he would not have had a problem...........Check the top of page 7 of the handbook...........Looks to me like LSU had every right to do what they did.

totally disagree. Why risk the entire program on whether jefferson may or may not be guilty. the police seem to think they have enough for a conviction and with all the willie lyles stuff along with russell shepard I'd say we're giving our due diligence to this matter.

I hate to say it, but that sounds EXACTLY like the line of bullshite I would have fed MY Dad when I was 20 and had just fricked up.

20 year olds usually have a tendency to think they can just brazen stuff out. It takes a few years of trying that and getting busted for them to realize that it's usually better to just man up and take your medicine.

If you were walking down the street and someone attacked you and beat you, would that bother you? Why is it that assault somehow becomes acceptable if it is committed in or around a bar late at night and all parties are inebriated? You have a right to use reasonable force to defend yourself. Do you really think that is what happened here?

I bet it wouldn't be acceptable to the "it was a bar fight" crowd if Jordan Jefferson would have been on the recieving end of those kicks and missed half the season with broken bones.

The damage has already been done.I would not want to even put on piece a of LSU anything . He gave his all and should just see them court. Wish the wannabe destroyers and vocal supporters of his demise could be made to pay out their pockets for it.
