All this stuff has been said to death, but let's try to gets to some kind of consensus .

Just to be safe,I'll say by Tuesday morning .

I think we know by now but for sure by tuesday, we pretty much can be sure that bianco,if already interviewed,is not our top candidate on our board...If Godwin interviewed already, like was reported, then we may not be our top choice .

The real question here is who's in front out of those two.

I believe the main target or targets consits of ; vitello, and corbin.
If you remember ,there were reports about corbin at the beginning of this influx of whatever it ends up being information wise.

Mcdonell is your wildcard though and he would be there if we decide we dont like the guy we thought we would.

Imo,this feels like bianco is out of it .if I had to bet my life savings on this ,and predict who we hire and how it plays out behind the scenes ,then I'm saying we get turned down by corbin,we end up staying away from vitello, that's if he would even come.

That leaves our original plan b guys and Godwin ends up getting hired.

Unfortunately, Corbin has no reason to leave. He's the king of Vandy. He can win there consistently. Doesn't need any advantages LSU might provide.

I think the list is
1. Corbin
2. Vitelli
3. Godwin
4. McDonald
5. Bianco
1 was sully but that got vetoed, 2 was Casey but again the board vetoed it. If we end up with 1-4 on my new list I’m ok the board vetoed the first two. If we end up with bianco I’m passed the board got involved

If you believe that its someone in omaha, then we very likely wont know by tuesday morning unless they play saturday and are bounced out on monday. More realistic to me is we know by next friday

Bianco, McDonnell, and Godwin have probably all already been interviewed. Probably a few more we don't know about.

There are more candidates who's teams are still playing this weekend and likely won't be interviewed until their season ends.

As far as I know, no other premier baseball program has a HC opening right now, so there's no reason to rush things.

We aren’t going to know who the coach is going to be until the CWS is over most likely. Woodward wants to interview every single possible candidate to figure out who is best for the job. In the meantime, enjoy the rest of June, stay safe this weekend, and then expect some big news 4th of July weekend

Hahahaha local radio guys just wanna be the first to break the news and hope they’re right. I don’t blame them, but that just isn’t how this is gonna work. Woodward is not rushing a hire and then end up getting the wrong guy. I think every single coach who has interviewed is still in play except for Casey. I’m assuming he will try to interview Corbin and Vitello after they exit/win the CWS. Probably other names out there that he likes that we haven’t even heard of yet

I think any interest by Corbin is simply a leverage play against Vanderbilt. His program is the ONLY great program in the entire athletic dept. And while I'm sure Vandy is compensating him well for his efforts, he knows LSU is one of the few, maybe the only, school who will put a big number in front of him that he can then take back to the AD at Vandy. He has his program rolling at the very highest level. I doubt he really wants to start over, in the same conference, only to, at best, match the success he's currently having. He and/or his agent are probably looking at the LSU opening as one final shot to leverage a big payday from Vandy...and they are taking it.

I think the smoke around Bianco is being created by Bianco himself (indirectly, of course) moreso than LSU. I think he knows his time at OM is getting stale and now might be the time to parachute out. OM is in that "Miles-esque" purgatory where they know their HC is too good to fire...but not good enough to meet expectations. Thus, they aren't going to make a strong push to "keep him" and are probably, secretly, hoping LSU saves them from the uncomfortable situation of having to fire him in the next year or so. If Bianco was LSU's #1 choice it would be done by now because Ole Miss isn't going to fight hard in response and they would probably just want to get their own new coach search going ASAP.

Vitello is the "hot up and comer". But he doesn't fit the profile of the kind of coach Woodward has hired in the past, and I think he has rubbed enough people in the profession the wrong way to make enough enemies pushing against him.

McDonnell has LONG been "available". Yet, the only smoke you hear about him has basically been just wishful hope by LSU fans here. It doesn't seem the AD shares the same infatuation for him.

With all of that in mind, IMO, the current status is to "go all out" for Corbin (in a similar fashion to the way Woodward hired Jimbo at A&M and Mulkey at LSU), with Godwin being the second choice if/when they can't get Corbin.

Allegedly. But there has been zero to back this up. Other than local BR guys who have been wrong from the start.

the longer it goes and Bianco is not hired is a very good thing for LSU. If Joe Alleva were running things right now, Bianco would have been hired a week ago. Low budget, low energy and lazy. Woodward, I believe will aim for a better candidate.

It appears SW is going to force Vitello to tell him no as he tours the facilities and glimpses the 2.5 a year document.

The consensus is there should be a Rumor and Innuendo Board, because that's all that's being peddled by the Media and other "informed sources". The only person that knows anything is Woodward, and that's how it should be. KOS, Casey, and Bianco, it's all been bs.

Say what you want about Moscona but he said something regarding Sully that I think applies for Bianco as well. He essentially said Sully was tired of being asked about the LSU job, by everyone from Florida’s AD, to his players, to even the media and his own friends. He basically told LSU to shite or get off the pot.

You have to think the same thing applies to Bianco. He is getting asked about it. The questions are probably more plentiful considering he has ties here and his son plays here. So I don’t think this is a wait and see thing, where Bianco is telling LSU “oh yeah go strike out on others and I’ll be here waiting when you circle back around.” Hell the man is at the beach, definitely doesn’t seem like someone that is being coveted, at least all that seriously.

I guess the Friday afternoon news dump is still in play considering the reaction Bianco hiring would get, but the window seems to be closing.

Im not saying Corbin will come here, but to say he would not leave Vandy is just stupid. If he and the AD do not get along as has been reported, and a program like LSU comes open and offers more money dont think for one second Corbin would not entertain coming here. Working relationship with your AD is just as important as anything else. and if LSU offesr him some where close to 3 million theres no way Vandy matches that.

The consensus is that Corbin will not leave Vandy. I understand that he has a good situation there and that he can be happy with what he has accomplished. But I think it’s important that individuals that have reached the level he has be rewarded for their accomplishment. I think LSU is prepared to recognize his skill and experience and make a strong offer. It will be up to Vanderbilt to consider his value.
