What's nice is while the D was sucking wind, they definitely still got push on most pass plays, and our DBs were able to clinch down on the last set of downs.

Most SEC teams would love to field our 4th quarter D, much less our D when it's fresh.

My favorite part was when Les called a timeout and negated their missed FG, giving them a second chance to beat us.

D looked gassed in the fourth quarter but they held out in the end! It's nice not to have to worry about 3rd and Chavis anymore. I think Steele is definitely an improvement.

I'm pretty sure almost everyone knows that. Thanks though for coming in and stating the obvious.

and he took advantage of a late game "don't give up quick touchdown" defense

I agree. To many open receivers in the second half

I agree with the D "gassed " in the second half comment. I think part of that is their wasn't that much of a rotation; the starters played a very high % of the snaps. The three DEs split them up well but that was about the only position. Tigers only played 50 players but of course that includes STs as well. State played 60 players.

However, overall it was a nice effort.

The main thing I liked is that Steele brought pressure MSUs last drive instead of rush 3 and drop back on prevent and let the other team march down the field throwing underneath and short sideline routes that lead to a TD or short chip shot FG

Nah...Dak would have ripped off a few 20 yd runs up the middle. Then Chavis would have sent the two middle LB's up the middle in a "mush-push" blitz. Dak gets another 10 yds running wide or a completion for 15-20 yds. Since that didn't work, Chavis would go crazy and walk a CB up to the LOS in an obvious blitz, blitz the CB side LB, everyone else is 15 yds off the LOS, because, you know - tacos.
After the game we would all be arguing about the offense putting the defense in that position anyways. Some would say, "Chief did everything he could".

The defense became worn out because we kept coming out with run, run, pass, punt. It started when we went 3 and out to open the half, the defense comes in and are on the field for what seemed most of the third quarter on Auburn's first possession of the half and then we came out and ran the same two exact plays into their 9/10 man front and then went 3 and out. That's how you wear out your own defense.

This one I can forgive. Defensive end got free, Brandon rolled to escape. Tackle came back trying to help his QB.

The way the angles were, it came fairly close to being a good block, and he was protecting the franchise. He just didn't realize how fast Harris is- that would have been a sack on most QBs, including Jennings (who isn't slow when he takes off). Harris seemed to have turned the corner on it.

Yes, so when our DB's know we're bringing pressure, they should come up and play man knowing that the QB isn't going to have much time and will probably just throw it up. We weren't doing that and the receivers were still just running out 5 yards and giving Dak something to throw to within 2 seconds of the snap.

The defense got gassed when MSU adjusted and shut LSU's vanilla offense down and MSU's offense adjusted and went up tempo. But you are correct on the seemingly lack of adjustments. What would you expect? Since when has a Miles' gameplan been adjusted during a game whether it was working or not?

There is this thing called depth, which we are a little thin at in some positions. It will take another good year or two of recruiting to take care of that. Not to mention keeping a few folks here beyond their sophomore years.

Stop pretending like you know anything at all about football. Like how to coach it or play it.

There isn't a poster here, not a single one that know as much about football as Les Miles, Kevin Steele or Cam Cameron.

A bunch of guys sitting on couches thinking they know more than the coaches.

Coaches recruit these kids, know them, observe them in meetings, on the practice field, on film of practice, in games, on film of games. Yet everyone here knows better. Its laughable.

If Miles "opened it up" and Harris threw a couple picks the same idiots criticizing him would be screaming he should have just rode Fournette and protected Harris on the road.

Dumbasses.

This, exactly this. I could not have said it better myself. You are my new favorite poster.

Run D was very good. Pass D tailed off in Q4 when they had been on field for too many plays.
