Burrow and Daniels and their first year as starters here. Burrow and Daniels had their moments in their first year but nothing would have foreseen their second years as starters and Heisman seasons. It just seems like we as fans think that Nuss should be at that Heisman level already but he definitely has his WTF moments. He definitely has the talent but still is gaining that game time EXPERIENCE as he goes. IMHO if he comes back next year he wins a Heisman. Anyway we go as Nuss goes so LFG!!! Playoff here we come I hope

This reminds me of Joe Burrow beating UGA in Tiger Stadium during the 2018 season. Not his best statistical performance , but definitely gave insight into his substance. Contrast this against a guy like Dart. He is money when he is riding high , but you can’t find him when it counts.

No doubt.

Against ole miss his pocket awareness was excellent I thought. He did make a few throws that were brain farts, but those are minimized or gotten rid of through experience. As he figures out to run on occasion, or to take the check down, he will continue to improve on what has been a really good statistical season.

Daniels showed flashes his first year also. Just would not sling it down the field. I remember

Nuss has the talent but definitely still reverts back to his gunslinger mentality at times. If he learns to control that and plays under control like Burrow and Daniels in their second year we can definitely make a run at the playoff this year. It looks like this will be hard for him to do even when Kelly chews his arse.

This is precisely why he's not NFL ready - yet. Experience matters.

Yep. He got SEC player of the week basically on how he finished that last game. I have no problem with that but the gunslinger was definitely out in most of the first half.

If we only had a running game, the sky would be the limit.

Truth. Play Williams and the two twitch young guys. Jackson is just to big and takes to long to get going. Nuss could also help by taking off when everyone is in coverage.

You make a great point. As Nuss develops I’d expect him to get more comfortable making reads; I’d expect him to start punishing defenses when they give him undefended run lanes.

Nuss is an enigma if he comes out this year. He has undeniable arm talent, and he is nimble moving around - he’s not at all a statue - but how much of his success is due to the great pass protection he’s enjoyed?

The only issue is he won't have this O-line next year. That is a huge factor to how he's doing this year.

What kind of WRs will he have if he returns?

I expected Nuss to be better in protecting the football though. Given the fact that he's a son of an NFL QB/coach, I expected the growth.

Nuss will be top 5 pick if he comes back next year. He has the best arm talent in CFB in my opinion. NFL throw after NFL throw and he can do it from multiple arm angles.

This team gives off 2018 vibes. Going to need to do some serious portal work for O-Line though

Lacy is gone after this year. Anderson may also be gone. Mason Taylor will turn pro.

Those are his top three receivers, so he may be working with very little experience on the line as well as scant experience at the receiver positions.

His motion & release are almost effortless too. Kids got a fantastic arm that can make every throw & like you said he does it from awkward angles at times as well.

I believe Nuss will continue to get better but as far as next season goes, he won't have the protection he does this year. He will be pressured a lot more than this year. I don't think people talk enough about how good this Oline has been in pass pro. He's been sacked twice this year with 250 attempts. That is pretty wild! I'd guess the Oline gets overlooked with the bad run game. My point is, he will HAVE to take what a defense gives him next year and tuck the ball at times if he wants to be successful. Otherwise, Underwood will probably be the better option just because he will be able to escape pressure. I still trust Davis will field a decent Oline but it would be naive to believe they could be as good as this year.

I’m actually surprised with how fair and rational the Rant has been towards Nuss. Even this week when it’s obvious he had a terrible game statistically, nobody’s wavered and everyone is sticking by him. Maybe winning does that

He’s lucky Walker transfered or people would be losing their shite.

No one thinks Ricky Collins is a better answer.

How bad is the Vandy transfer then? Seems like he would have been the sensible back up since he had SEC veteran experience.
