It’s amazing to me the hate that a coach who won a national championship for LSU receives, while a guy who has had zero success as a head coach anywhere continues to get the benefit of the doubt.

You're half right. Not many people are giving O the benefit of the doubt. Sure, there are many who wish him success because he's the HC at LSU, but very few are giving him much more than that.

It's not like they didn't give him every opportunity to succeed. He was more interested in proving people wrong than doing what was best for his teams.

No one here is arguing Les should've stayed. But from his perspective, wouldn't you wonder why anybody would believe your former DL coach and TE coach could do better? And several years after their own failures in their current positions?

Les has done great on the open market. Teams are really fighting over who gets to sign him. Must be a heck of a coach given all the demand out there for him. Oh, and O will be coaching a football team this fall while Les sits on the couch and nibbles on grass.

So you are saying O is a better coach than Les because he is coaching right now?

Les was so bad, he got fired for O. Let that sink in....,,,O may crap the bed, especially with this schedule, but he did replace Miles, who was a coaching disaster...

You know...I’ve pondered many times through the Les Miles’ years what kind of coach would replace him when he was gone. And never in my absolute wildest imaginations could I have imagined it would be Ed freakin Ogeron.

Les’ style of coaching was top notch. Until he got undressed 01/09/12 and went into a shell, placing even more restrictions on his O coaches.

I agree 100%. Just saying firing Miles was the right move but LSU also fricked that up by bringing him back after the A&M game. Then it just snowballed into an unbelievable frick up of events very few men could accomplish the way Joe did.

Yeah we did it for the sake of recruiting too, and long term, that doesn't seem to be working, if class ranking is any indication.

Basically O used his recruiting ability on Joe Alleva and convinced him using the same basic script that he used at Ole Miss.

I only hope there is some sort of scandal that could lead to Aranda being in charge.

The conclusion I would come to is LSU thought Les was getting in the way of the offense and they thought the rest of the staff was solid. So they hire a figurehead from the staff to keep the staff and recruiting class together. I don't agree with it but there's no reason for Les to be bitter.

It’s about time Les took the gloves off.

Taking the high road is one thing, but O deserves every bit of this and more after the underhanded con job he pulled.

If a national champion and national coach of the year was a "disaster", what the frick is Orgeron?

I think it was before that. After the 08 season Les wasn't going to let the offense lose the game for him. Handcuffed the offense and let the defense win games which worked a lot. He opened it up again for Metts last year but went back to his old ways after.

I’d 100% be bitter if I were replaced by a guy who’s most noteworthy accomplishment was being a colossal failure within the conference

The offense played well against some terrible teams. I was hoping the UF loss would dissuade Alleva from making the O choice, but after the Missouri game, you could feel the support for O grow.

I don’t think he’s bitter. He started the whole thing off by saying asking for patience is insulting the players, then pointed out the “previous” staff recruited some of the players and he knows they can play.

O was campaigning it was all about winning championships now, then it suddenly became a rebuilding job, he’s now been able to push the goalposts all the way until 2019. It’s unacceptable, but the mouth breathers that worship a man who’s accomplishments as a head coach that can be summed up on a post it accept this as truth. O is a straight up con man.

Les Miles is jobless...tell him to shut the frick up. He never asked for a break but he also didn’t do shite to make his own.
