From today's Advocate:

quote:

The LSU coach said Wednesday that changes are coming to his team’s spring football practices next month, and his staff is planning to visit the spring practices of several “opponents” to study their offense. The staff will “emphasize” the passing game during spring drills, and they’ll travel to other sites to learn how to better “attack people effectively with our personnel,” he said. Spring ball is set to begin March 7, and the spring game is scheduled for April 16. “If you do the same thing you’ve always done, it will be the same thing you’ve always been,” Miles said Wednesday at a news conference introducing new running backs coach Jabbar Juluke and receivers coach Dameyune Craig. “We’re going to change spring. It’s going to be different.”

No more Big Cat drill?

Neither do I. He makes similar statements every Winter.

This fan base is pathetically and embarrassingly obsessed with bama. Not sure how some of you sleep at night with your Bama fear

So, just a touch of doubt in response?
Hope springs eternal, but I know no one who resists change more than Les Miles.
/here's betting that Les still has a Princess rotory telephone at home and a bag phone in his car.?

Doesnt seem like Bama fear, just a legitimate fact that to become the king, you have to dethrone the current one. We had Bama on the ropes but havent been able to finish them several times over the past years. To get to where we want to be we have to finally beat them again. Bama has been where it all unravels. Not fear, just legitimate fact.

Can't say I've heard him say this before. We'll see what happens but this offseason feels different than years past. The returning juniors, making three great hires, all after he nearly lost his job--there's something strange in the neighborhood and I like it. I at least believe Les is TRYING to do something different. Whether it pays off or not remains to be seen but I like the newfound sense of urgency.

All of us hope its true, but we need to see it on the field.

I hope Les can understand its possible to be a power running team, but also be a very efficient passing team. For one, we should destroy teams with play action passes consistently because of the running game we have.

We don't have to be either a power running team or a great passing team, we have the capability of being both, which incidentally will equal more total wins.

In all honesty I've never seen Miles talk about seriously making changes. He always says it's not the offense it's the execution. He's said in the past he wants to throw it better but from the same old offense. Now he's finally saying that he has to make some changes in philosophy because what's they've been doing isn't completely the answer, and better use the talent he has on the roster. Think that's pretty big. Interested to see what they do.

Tiger Stadium 11, I appreciate you trying to slowly and clearly explain it to him, but Beefense is a fricking idiot. He's incapable of critical thinking.

Don't waste your breath ... or your typing fingers.

We may likely be undefeated going into late October.

But October 22 with Ole Miss and then the gumps and Arkansas ... that's when the REAL season begins--the season Les will be judged by.
