Mariota had already won the Heisman before Melvin Gordon could even hit his conference schedule. That's the way the media works and that same media is dying to give this trophy to LF7. All he needs to do is keep dominating and he will take it home. There are no serious challengers this year.

ETA: remember when Aaron Rodgers got the MVP award even thought Brees ended up shattering 15 NFL records that same year? The media crowned AR in week 4, and nothing mattered after that. This will be the same.

Exactly.

Has nothing to do with what he does in college.

which ones? I truly believe the only one that can stop LF is miles not playing him. Sure we might play tougher defense, so he goes for 140 instead of 330. that's not stopping him.

e will need to complete more than 8 passes to beat SC.... And as well as beat FLA........

you don't know that. What I do know is if they threw more passes, more passes would be completed. Just like if they ran fournette more, he'd have more yards. Its quite simple actually.

He'll see eight-man defensive fronts, throughout the season, designed to stop him and put the game on the shoulders of first-year starting quarterback Brandon Harris. And they'll be much better defensive fronts than the one Syracuse fielded on Saturday
See, I don't think it matters. You stack the box, and his runs will look like this on consecutive plays:
3 yds
5 yds
4 yds
60 yds

Our line is good, borderline great, and he's hitting the holes. Even if, say, Bama stacks it, all that is doing is pulling the linebackers and safeties up tight. If he breaks through the line (and he will, probably about 20-25% of his runs), and they are tight, he has just a safety preventing a huge gain; and he will beat them a couple of times in the game. There will be nobody else back there to tackle him, because the LBs will be filling various gaps.

You almost wonder if they will sit back a little more, give up the 8-10 yd runs, and hope for a penalty or clean backfield tackle by a d-lineman to disrupt the drive.

When Leonard's still the leading contender in the Heisman race toward the end of the season, and this clown Goodbread requests credentials for the A&M game so he can see #7 in person, he should be denied.

.

Mark Ingram won the Heisman in 2009.
He rushed for more than 150 yards 3 times
Only 1 of those 150 yard games was he over 200 yards
He had 56 yards on 10 carries against Florida International
He had 17 carries for 50 yards against Arkansas
In his final regular season game he had 16 carries for 30 yards against Auburn

.....2 weeks later they handed him the Heisman.

As long as our TE's, Fullbacks and O-line stays healthy nobody stops LF. It's not just the O-line that is good, the fullback have been cracking skulls!

So what...why don't all of you say the same thing about the rest of the idiots picking LSU to win it all and crown Fournette with the Heisman after 3 games.

Let's be honest, in order for LF7 to win the Heisman, he has to have that statement game against one to two great defenses - if he shines against Bama or Ole Piss, while racking up around 1600-1800 yards, he's a lock for the award. Also, if he gets at least 100 yards in every game the rest of the year, it would be real hard to justify not giving him the nod.

Who's picking LSU to win it all? Vegas also has LF as the overwhelming favorite to win the heisman. He went from 25-1 odds to 3/2 odds.

Everyone should be thanking him for providing bulletin board material for LF.
