he throws a fade type pass to Ridley in the corner of the endzone.....is this on Lee or the coaching staff for poor play design?? what in the hell is the point of throwing that type of ball in the corner to a 6'0" RB when we have 6'5" and 6'4" WR's?? not sure which UT DB/LB made the pick but most of them are in the 6'0"-6'2" range. If you throw that type of ball why not use WR height to your advantage?

Coaching staff. Crowton was in essence throwing a wheel route to a guy under 6 feet.

he just made a bad throw no matter who was running the route.

Lee said it was on him. It was a good play, exploiting a mismatch between a LB and Ridley, Lee just threw it inside when he should have thrown it outside.

I don't have the link, but I read somewhere that Lee admitted that it was a dumb pass and that the LB made a great play to get the INT.

Good playcall, kind of a trick play. Lee should've just thrown it away when it wasn't open.

I have no problem with the throw. He threw it up before Ridley really made his break. The receiver, whoever he is, has to go get the ball or break it up.

Both I think...last night I was watching the Tenn broadcast of the game, and the announcers talked about that particular play for quite a while. As soon as he intercepted it, the Tenn broadcasters said that was probably the worst call they have ever seen. Minutes later on Tenn's ensuing drive, they revisited that play saiying they still couldn't believe that play was ever even drawn up. Ultimately, Lee made a poor throw, though.

I would have been running the ball at that point but hindsight is 20/20.

there was also a puch off by the defender from what I remember that could have been a weak PI call

Lee on the interception:
"On that interception I threw in the end zone, it was all my fault. I was going to Stevan (Ridley) and I threw it short, and the linebacker made a great play."

I can understand not loving the play call but you have to put the vast majority of that on the throw. It was WAY short and there was no reason for that on that down.

by the way, I think JL played reasonably well and should get the majority of the snaps against Fla. But that was a poor throw.

First, that wasn't a fade route.

Wasnt' a great throw; he needs to throw it upfield and let Ridley jet past the defender.

And the defender played it pretty well.

I think it's a great play. Ark. ran the same play to a "short" RB for td's against UGA & Bama. 2 things happened for it not to work for LSU: bad pass & great play by the LB. The wheel route works most of the time.
