He and Desean Smith being tight helps.

Yep...they're gonna be on him til signing day. He's definitely not a lock.

Crud. I thought the kid wanted to play in SEC?

Watching it as well. Mettenberger stepping up in pocket should help with the pressure off te edge.

Our Freshman LBers arent any bigger. I am really worried about our LBers this year...I think they might be too damn small to stop power running teams but hopefully I am way wrong

Ronnie Feist is 230
Lamar Louis is 220
Kwon Alexander is 215

correct. Two of the all-time detractors from greatness in LSU history.

Definitely a chance IMO. If he does indeed try the return to LSU route and finds it too difficult to adhere to the requirements, I fully expect he would declare.

I think that actually gives him the most options. He can work out all year. Stay in shape. Try to get back on the team. If it doesn't work, he can declare. He has a back stop and ability to mature as a student and person.

Whatever he does, he's got to think long term

I agree. I think LSU is helping by not letting him go to Prarie View and Jacksonville State. Those are the type of programs that role out the red carpet to the Michael Dyer types. Not a good situation for him.
I honestly think he is leaning towards staying. He is weighing all of his options but I think there is a genuine concern on his ability to "promote" his brand at a smaller institution. Except for a small few, coming out of a Div. II significantly hurts your ability to get paid right out.

Martin and Eugene are both freak safeties.

Whoever gets that spot will not give it back.

Hope this is true. I do have high hopes for Loston though. Don't think the toe is that serious though.
Remind me how many games Brokers and Logan started before last year?

Blue is the #1 back right now? Like that if so.

I'd say he had a really good year then

He was good. His problem was he was undersized and the great experiment of Mallveto was during his tenure.

'08 defense still haunts my dreams

I'll take Sarah Jessica over Jarret Lee and Jordan Jefferson any day.

So the answer being yes if you needed help connecting the dots. And yes, we will have the offensive boost.

Jordan Jefferson. Handing the ball off and having studs at every position does not give him credit to the W/L record. Walking liability. Should never be allowed back on LSU's campus.

Teams will attack our linebackers and stay away from all american safety. You will see teams use the WV game plan this year to get rid of the ball quickly. I think the Washington game is going to be a learning curve game for our defensive backs.

Press coverage unlike the third quarter. Jam and get pressure.
I'll save the entire thread. The disaster that was JL and JJ are gone. We have a real QB.

That said, I do think that, at least to some degree, the increased experience on the line, and maturing of Mingo, etc., will help cover the lack of lb experience/some new guys in the def backfield.

Very true. Also, Chavis is not going to have TM7 on an island very often. We will have him once again near the LOS especially on third down. If Mills or Collins gets beat we're going to have to live with that. Don't be surprised if Mathieu drops into coverage while showing blitz and continues to create chaos.
LB play will be vastly improved. Francois and Baker were below average players on a top 2 defense. Jones, Feist, and Louis are already better than both. All Baker could do was blitz and he often got his legs cut out by a smallish rb.
10-2 for 2013 would be very solid. Lot of young players developing next year.
All 5 are good. Each brings a little something different.

Blue is my favorite out of the backfield. Ware is the best downhill runner. Ford has the jets.

I am just shocked (sarcasm) that there wasn't good chemistry with Lee and Jefferson.

Kid learned that he is bigger than a bar fight. Stay in the truck!

re: Craig Steltz vs. Eric Reid

Posted by jackson123 on 7/31/12 at 10:20 am to
Eric Reid will start on Sundays. Steltz is a special teams player and backup. Stat's don't tell the entire story.

Steltz wasn't as good as Laron.

Reid
Laron
Steltz
He may have decided that he wants to be part of a winning program. He'll do whatever he can to help the team.
