Was he calling the game @ Rosenblatt? It did not appear so to me.

Seemed to call a lot of very, very low strikes.

for Jungmann, that is...

NOT for an LSU pitcher.

I also felt strongly that our batters were forced into swinging at a lot of low pitches, because he was giving that called (very) low first strike to the Texas pitcher....

and it did seem rather obvious, too.

LSU fans are notorious for complaining about bad calls. Keep it up.

I watched the game. There might have been a few mistakes in calls for UT. But folks, the game was 5-1. Give UT some props. They would have won without the calls. Now, if it were 2-1, then fine, we can bitch. Get over it.

So...it really is that simple then. Hmmm. So pitch count, batter's count is of little relevance except where the decision is 1 run more or less. Thanks for clearing that up...

It is very easy for officials in baseball and basketball to control the game outcome. Heck, look at the betting NBA refs. Just like the holding call in football, it is always at the discretion of the referee.

Let's worry about things like throwing the ball into right field on a pickoff attempt from the catcher or basics like tagging up on a routine pop fly. Let's not worry about a bad call here and there because we probably get the benefit of blown calls just as much as we don't.

It's weird, I haven't heard much about that ball down the line vs. Virginia that Schimpf couldn't catch up with.

So, let's hope that assclown does a better job tonight behind the plate than he did at 1B. He blew at least two calls at first (both in favor of UT) like a Bourbon Street hooker.

This stuff balances out. LSU will get the calls, the dingers and the pitching tonight. Book it!!!

I agree in that we get the benefit of some blown calls...but not last night. Since the start of the SEC tourney LSU has averaged over 7 runs/game. Just hard to believe that one pitcher held this team to 1 run in 9 innings when the nat'l. championship was on the line. He got some help. Now, it doesn't do any good to bitch about it...but it will raise my blood pressure tonight if I have to sit through the same crap.

Not saying LSU is by far the better team...we're not. But, we have a lot to prove tonight.

I think the inconsistent strike zone effected the outcome a little. The roaming zone meant the LSU batters had to start swinging at anything that looked remotely close to a strike. They never got the chance to get many quality cuts.

As bad as all of this was (and it as bad), the back breaker was self inflicted. When Dean left early from second, the difference in the crowd was palpable. It killed one of our best chances at a rally.
