Former coach at FAU was 9-27. Kiffin is 16-10.

The problem is that Kiffin was 11-3 after his first season.

Like USC his first years were pretty good. In 2012 he became the first coach since the 1960's to begin a season ranked #1 in the nation and finish unranked. He was dumped at the airport a few games into the 2013 season.

FAU doesn’t have the money or facilities to compete with upper tier teams.

Upper tier teams like Middle Tennessee, Marshall, La Tech, North Texas and Charlotte who they lost to this season?

Or the upper tier teams they beat to get three of their five wins like Bethune-Cookman(7-5 MEAC), Old Dominion(4-8 C-USA) and Western Kentucky(3-9 C-USA).

It's not that deep. O is his boy and he's defending him.

I'm only shocked it is not Eaux giving Kiff excuses. One coach is ranked #11 in the CFP poll going to a New Year's day bowl game.

The other had a losing record after going 11-3 his first season. This was against teams with equal or less talent than his team.

That’s because it didn’t happen.

he wasn't there long enough to see what they could do, but they looked significantly better overall.

4 point loss to AU

beat the dogshit out of UGA

2 point loss to #1 Bama (10-12 final score) and only lost due to a freak blocked fg that was a chip shot

beat the dogshit out of #21 SC

and then a couple of bad losses to Ole Miss and the bowl game to VT

they had the #8 class in 2009

he was not doing badly and undoubtedly had them on an upswing.

Kiffin is a good OC. Too immature to be HC

well, Orgeron chugs red bull, rips his shirt off, and punches himself in the face to get the team motivated for games.

Another thought would be that he is friends with Coach O.

Kiffin really over achieved last season and lost some players to graduating before this season.

I think they'll win 9/8 games next year and he'll get a bigger job.

I would love him to be our OC though. Orgeron would actually just leave the offense alone completely like he does the defense.

i think he already said no to that 2 years ago. he accepted lower pay when he chose FAU over the LSU oc job.

I don't understand people thinking he would accept a position under O. They are close, but he see's himself waaaay above O. CEO followed him to Tenn and USC but wouldn't not do the same with higher pay than he is getting. HE IS NOT COMING and NEVER WAS!

This is fantastic! Lane making nice means one thing, and it's good: he's the top candidate for OC when Oeux sees the light of day and gives Emzinger the boot.

LSU will wreak shite on offense next year pending proper alignment of the stars.

teams in those conferences can't sustain success the same way that teams in P5 conferences can. There is much more attrition. You live and die on senior classes. You simply can't keep the same sort of recruiting pipeline.

UCF might be the only example because of their recent "marketing".

he's just being nice because he and O are homeboys. He has already turned down the OC job for a lower paying HC job. He's gonna win 9 or more games next year and then back to P5 as a HC, as many have mentioned.

Why don't they just give him 2.5 like they did Aranda and let's roll!!

Exactly.

You don't plug-n-play new talent. You have to develop classes over the years so you can make a run when you have a solid group of upperclassmen. You also need to get lucky on some hidden gem recruits that big boys didn't go after.

yep, and this year was one of those down years for Lane. As you mentioned, next year FAU should be more experienced and much better. His name this time next year will be floated around to lots of programs.

Hopefully he doesn't end up at OM.
